After The Rain Has Fallen
After The Rain Has Fallen
By Hikaru

Summary: Tomoyo, angst, and rain. Woo-hoo! My first E/T fic.

After the rain has fallen
After the tears have washed your eyes
You'll find that I've taken nothing, that
Love can't replace in the blink of an eye
After the thunder's spoken, and
After the lightning bolt's been hurled
After the dream has been broken, there'll
Still be love in the world

"After The Rain Has Fallen"

The rain slowly slid down the screen of the large window. Seeping into the little metal crevices, flowing down to the bade of the white washed board under the large piece of glass. A girl with long black hair, by the name of Daidouji Tomoyo, sat and stared-watching listlessly as the light rain collided with the window. Outside, she could see a figure leaving her gigantic estate, his head hung low. She let out a soft sigh and closed the curtain, obscuring her view of the fleeting figure.

Forget it, she told herself. Forget everything he had said, forget him completely. The dark-haired boy, named Hiiragizawa Eriol, wasn't worth her time. He was trying to be nice, that was the only reason that he had come. There was no… interest… between them. None at all.

She turned to her window again, as if she could see through the pink satin curtains. She could see him walking, letting the rain pour down on him.

No interest at all.

Frankly, she had been surprised when he had come and knocked on her door, bearing a bouquet of sakura blossoms. That was tactless, considering that Sakura was the reason why she had left school so upset. But then again, Eriol could have realized exactly what he was doing. He was really odd like that sometimes.

Tomoyo and Sakura had had an awful fight, concerning the upcoming high school exams. Sakura, who had applied to the same high school as Li, wasn't attempting to try and enter any other school. Tomoyo was furious! There were so many schools that were so much better- and Sakura had a very good chance being accepted into them. She, Tomoyo, had then told Sakura something she would regret later: "You don't have to live your life by what Li-kun does! He's not worth throwing your education away!" Straight out of Fujitaka's mouth, no doubt.

Sakura just stood and stared at Tomoyo, shocked beyond belief. True, Tomoyo was aware of how special Li was to Sakura, but she still couldn't help but let her best friend know that she was making a mistake. Of course, Sakura left, crying, telling Tomoyo that "You just don't understand."

No, she didn't understand. Tomoyo had never been that deep in love like that. She loved Sakura, yes, but as a friend. Tomoyo doubted that her affections towards her friend were in any way similar to the feelings Li had for Sakura.

Throwing the flowers Eriol had given her on the floor, Tomoyo flopped down on a chair and began to think. Why had Eriol brought her flowers? Could he have heard about the fight? Of course he had, she told herself. After all, this was Hiiragizawa-kun... the one who knew all.

She thought back to when she had answered the door to find a drenched Eriol. He looked so helpless and weak, she had to stop herself from letting out a small giggle. The all-high-and-mighty Eriol had finally fallen off his thrown, and had come down to the level of the common people. She had never, ever, seen him looking so -pathetic- before. "Don't be sad," he said, handing her the bouquet. "She's not that mad at you- Sakura-san feels quite guilty about what she said."

Tomoyo asked why he had come over to tell her this, instead of Sakura. Eriol simply smiled and replied, "It makes me sad to see such a depressed lady, Daidouji-san." But Tomoyo didn't take the compliment. Instead, she whipped the bouquet out of his hands and slammed the door in his face.

Biting her lip as her mind reflected on the moment, Tomoyo looked guiltily at the bouquet. He was just trying to be nice-to cheer her up. Cursing her actions, Tomoyo pushed herself out of the chair and ran out the front door, yelling, "Hiiragizawa-kun! Hiiragizawa-kun!"

The rain poured against her face as she ran, stinging against her skin. She could feel a wave of cold come over her body. She wrapped her arms around her body and held tight, trying to keep herself warm. Her heart banged in her chest, as she tried to catch her breath. He was gone. However, she was too determined to let this go. Her feet fumbling from beneath her, she continued on, splashing water away from puddles as she ran. "Hiiragizawa-kun!" she turned round the corner of her estate to find him staring, looking surprised at her. Tomoyo smiled warmly, "Thank you, Hiiragizawa-kun. The flowers are nice."

He smiled in return, "You're welcome." Staring at her for a moment, he nodded to himself and then began to turn away.

"Wait-" she called out.

Eriol paused, turning to her once more. His glasses were speckled with raindrops, yet his dark blue eyes were still clearly visible. His hair and clothes were soaked. Tomoyo's smile turned into a very nervous twitch, "Would you like to come inside? I mean," she chortled, "We're both soaked."

His eyes wide with surprise, Eriol eyed her with unbelievable shock. "Really?"

Without explanation, a light feeling came over Tomoyo. She had long since caught her breath from all the running, yet her heart was still pounding in her ears. Why? She looked at Eriol, taking in his boyish looks, diluted by the pouring rain, and felt a blush coming on. Maybe this was the feeling that Sakura was talking about. Or, maybe, it was just the rain.

Tomoyo nodded, a bright smile on her face. "Really."

Notes:
Err... this was written during Creative Writing class when my teacher ordered us to write something inspired by the rain that was falling outside. For some reason, Tomoyo and Eriol came to my mind and I begin to run away with the idea. It's short, too short in my opinion; but I thought I would post it anyway ^^; I hope everyone enjoyed. ^_^v
