Tomoyo smiled lightly as she greeted her classmates Monday morning.
But inside she was seething.
'I hate school,' she thought bitterly. 'I hate everyone...I hate you
Sakura, because I love you.'
Tomoyo took her seat next to Eriol, one of the few people who
understood her. He smiled at her but didn't say anything, senseing
that she was angry.
RING. School was out. Finally, in Tomoyo's opinion. About damn time.
If she had to sit through one more minute of Sakura and Syaoran being
sappy, she might have screamed and killed someone. Namely herself and
Sakura and her stupid boytoy Syaoran. Damn that gaki!
Tomoyo started walking home. By herself. As usual. Dammit, life was
harsh. It seemed cruel that the one she desired would fall in love
with someone else. Life had too many tricks up its' sleeves, Tomoyo
realized. Just when you think that you won at it, it dished out
something cruel to choke you with.
"TOMOYO-CHAN!" called a lively voice. Oh great, Tomoyo thought. Just
who I don't want to see. "WAIT FOR MEEEEEEEE!"
Tomoyo turned in Sakura's direction, pasting a smile on her face that
she knew Sakura would never take as being fake. 'She's too dense.'
"Li-kun and I are going with Eriol, Rika, Naoko, Chiharu, and all of
the others to Funtown (A/N I couldn't think of anything!! OK? OK!)!
Do you want to come? We'd love to have you with us!" Sakura exclaimed
breathlessly.
Tomoyo smiled, trying to hide a grimace. 'Do I have a choice? If I
say no, you'll question me. Oh well, at least it'll be better than
being by myself, moping around an empty house.'
"OK," Tomoyo agreed. "What time will you be going?"
"Around seven tonight, Tomoyo-chan! It'll be so much fun!"
Tomoyo held back a sigh. "OK, see you then."
*********
'God, if I had known that thise damn fools who call themselves my
friends were going to leave me with Eriol, I'd have pretended to be
sick! He's the only one that can see through my mask!'
"Let's go on the ferris wheel, Tomoyo-san," Eriol said calmly.
"OK," Tomoyo agreed. 'Maybe the air up there will help me get a grip.'
On the ferris wheel, Tomoyo looked over at the city from far above
the ground in awe, forgetting about Sakura for a few minutes.
Tomoyo sighed audibly, but either Eriol knew better than to ask or
just ignored it. She looked down at her hands. 'Damn this! I'm so
sick of loving you Sakura! I'm so sick....of not being loved by
anyone. Arrrgh, now I'm feeling sorry for myself. I am such a loser.
At least Eriol-kun is nice about my stupidity and selfishness.'
Eriol pointed suddenly. "Look, Tomoyo-san!"
Tomoyo looked in the direction Eriol was pointing to and gasped.
Fireworks! Blue, yellow, green, purple - so many colors! So beautiful!
"It's beautiful!" Tomoyo breathed in awe. 'I wish I was a
firework....I could go out with a bang...and my life wouldn't be so
damn long and....lonesome.'
"Yes," Eriol said knowingly. "They are."
Tomoyo stared at Eriol, then laughed like a crazy baffoon just for
the sake of laughing life and it's most terrible moments away.
Eriol raised an eyebrow at Tomoyo but said nothing. She continued to
laugh insanely for the rest of the ride.

'OK.....how the HELL did I get separated from Eriol-kun, and how the
HELL did I end up in the house of MIRRORS?!' Tomoyo thought
angrily. 'All these reflections of me...I can't stand it anymore!'
"Tomoyo-chan!"
Tomoyo turned in what she thought was the direction of the voice and
saw that the mirrors were now filled with images of her and
Sakura. 'Great, just who I DID NOT WANT TO SEE! Life sucks
dammit....why must I run into you at every moment of my life?!'
Sakura smiled, but Tomoyo didn't smile back. Tomoyo just stared at
Sakura, filled with hate and adoration at the same time. 'Why do I
have to love YOU? And you don't even have a clue...'
"Tomoyo-chan? Did you get separated from Eriol-kun?" Sakura asked,
her voice dripping with sweetness.
"Hai," Tomoyo said, forcing the response out through clenched teeth.
Sakura giggled. "I got separated from Li-kun! I guess all we have to
do now is find the real you and me and get out of here, ne?"
Tomoyo forced back a biting reply, and instead said nothing.
"Tomoyo-chan? Is something wrong?" Sakura asked.
"Yes Sakura-chan! Something is wrong!" Tomoyo replied with a deadly
glare. "YOU are!"
"Hoe?" came Sakura's refused answer.
Tomoyo's blood was boiling. "HOE THIS!!" she shouted, punching what
she thought was Sakura, but was actually a mirror. The image split as
the impact from Tomoyo's fist caused the mirror to shater into
glittering bits of sharp, cutting glass. Blood openly poured from
Tomoyo's knuckles, but she paid the wound no heed. Instead, she kept
on punching mirros, hoping to hit the real Sakura. Glass got lodged
in her fist, ripping her flesh, but Tomoyo didn't even notice. She
was blinded by her rage.
"DAMN YOU SAKURA!" Tomoyo screamed as she hit yet another mirror,
causing it to break into a million pieces. "I hate you!"
All of the Sakuras in the mirrors turned sad. "Why?"
"Because I love you, but you will never return my feelings! Your
brain is so wrapped up with Syaoran you never even notice or spend
time with me anymore!"
The Sakuras in the mirrors all shook their heads, emerald eyes
brimming with tears. "I....I am sorry, Tomoyo-chan! I never even
realized...."
Tomoyo smirked, hitting another mirror, but with less rage. "You are
naive Sakura. You never realize anything without someone walking
right up to and saying it. Just how the hell could I tell you with Li-
kun going everywhere with you? How could I tell you..." Tomoyo sunk
to her knees, on the verge of tears, "when you always wanted to be
with him and not me? How could I tell you how I felt when everytime
it was supposed to just be you and me, you invited him along.....?"
Tomoyo, against her will, started to sob. With blurry vision, she
examined her fist, and noticed vaguely that is was filled with glass
and bleeding profusely. Her brain registered that she SHOULD be
feeling pain right now, but Tomoyo didn't care. She just couldn't
believe it. 'I actually told her how I felt, but she didn't care
much.'
"Tomoyo-chan...." Sakura whispered. "I'm sorry, but I can never love
you the way you want me to. But, I love you as a friend. You are my
best friend. I do love you in that regard, and I have always hoped
that you would find someone and be happy."
Tomoyo paused and drew in a shakey breath. "If that is what you want,
I will try, Sakura-chan."
**********
The tow girls came out of the House of Mirrors, arm in arm. Eriol and
Syaoran rushed over. Eriol took silent notice of Tomoyo's bleeding
hand, but said nothing. Syaoran, on the other hand, started to bawl
with relief at the sight of his girlfriend being OK.
"WWWAAAAAAHHHHHHH! Sakura, you're OK!" Syaoran cried, glomping onto
his girlfriend.
Sakura, Tomoyo, and Eriol sweatdropped. Sakura sighed. "OK, Tomoyo,
Eriol, we'll see you later. Have fun!" Sakura dragged Li-kun and
herself away.
Eriol turned to Tomoyo with a frown. She looked up at him with a
blank look, when he grabbed her injured hand rather quickly. She
winced as he touched her split flesh gingerly. With a sigh, Eriol
took out his hankerchief and gently wrapped it around her wound. She
looked up at him, surprised. He was smiling at her, and their faces
were only a few inches apart. Tomoyo's heart thumped so loudly in her
chest that she thought that Eriol heard it. 'Why am I so
embarrassed?!' Tomoyo thought. Eriol just grinned and took her hand,
leading her towards a mre secluded area.
"Tomoyo-san....there is a girl I love." Eriol whispered.
"W-who?" Tomoyo asked, feeling her heart plummet. "Does she love you
back?"
Eriol shook his head sadly. "She loves someone else. I think that she
could love me, but she's so wrapped up in Sakura-san that you don't
notice my stares. I love you Tomoyo-chan."
Tomoyo gaped at Eriol. Just as Sakura had ignored her, she had ignore
Eriol! She was no better. "Oh Eriol, I'm so sorry!" Tomoyo wept.
Eriol shrugged, holding Tomoyo and pressing her face into his
chest. "I know you are, Tomoyo."
Tomoyo looked up at Eriol. She could see the pain and lonliness in
his eyes. 'Maybe....we can comfort each other in our lonliness.'
Without a second thought, Tomoyo suddenly leaned forward and kissed
Eriol sweetly, trying to tell him that she cared. "With time, Eriol-
kun, I will learn. But....it won't take that long, because I already
love you. I just ignored it, because I was so wrapped up in Sakura.
Forgive me?"
Eriol, recovering from the kiss, laughed heartily and nodded. Tomoyo
leaned forward and kissed him again. He smiled against her mouth,
causing Tomoyo to giggle. The two broke apart laughing, and walked
hand in hand towards the exit, heading towards the park for a late
night stroll together.
