Hi all!
Well, I'm pausing in my battle against Mixxine and Nelvana to send out part
one of a two parter. This one is a Sakura/ CLAMP Campus Detectives
crossover. Nokoru-tachi only make a cameo appearance in this part though.
Part One's really more of a set up for the rest of the story.

of other people. Card Captor Sakura is also the property of CLAMP, and
Nelvana can toy with it over my dead body
Big Decisions
A CCS/CCD crossover
Tomoyo sighed happily as she watched the elegant figures sweep across the
dance floor. It wasn't often that she was able to accompany her mother to a
social function. If only Sakura could have come as well, but she had had
cheerleading practice. Oh well, the least she could do was use this
opportunity to come up with new designs. And the woman over by the buffet
had an absolutely fabulous hat. Tomoyo sighed again, if she changed the
color to more of a melon shade…and added a bow at the back…
"Excuse me Daidouji-san, but is something the matter?"
Tomoyo started and turned to see a boy, slightly older than her with deep
blue eyes and golden hair. He was flanked on both sides by other boys, one
with dark brown hair, and another with blue. She smiled sweetly, "Thank you
for asking, Imonoyama-san, but I was simply enjoying the party."
"Ah, I see." He relaxed slightly and smiled in return. "They are quite
impressive aren't they?"
"Sou ne. Very inspiring. I think this one party could fuel my imagination
for months. But I hardly think you've come to talk to me about fashion."
He laughed, "Actually I have in a way. We would have come to give this to
you anyway, but this party seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up." He
nodded to the dark haired one who presented her with an envelope sealed with
the CLAMP campus emblem with a huge smile.
"What's this?"
"Well, we've heard about your skill with sewing, filmmaking, and of course
your talent as a singer. And the President feels you'd make an excellent
addition."
Tomoyo looked at the envelope in her hands, and back up at the blond haired
boy. "I'm afraid I don't quite understand." She said in a confused voice.
"Why it's your invitation to become a student at CLAMP campus, of course!"
~~~~~~~~~
Tomoyo was still staring dubiously at the envelope hours later. It sat
propped up against a candelabra on the dining room table, the little
fish-like face on the seal mocking her. CLAMP campus…Only the best and the
brightest were ever accepted to it. It was an incredible offer. Only a fool
would pass it up…
But leave all of her friends? Leave Sakura? Of course there would always be
time after classes were over, and there were always Sundays, but it wasn't
the same as seeing each other every day. And Tomoyo knew enough to know that
proximity was part of friendship. If you weren't there to share the
experiences…you would grow apart. It was part of the reason she had been so
insistent that she accompany Sakura on her adventures. That and the fact
that Sakura looked so cute in her outifits.
Sonomi sailed into the room, her face alight with happiness. "The maid just
told me! Oh, Tomoyo, what wonderful news!"
"Hai," Tomoyo did her best to put on a cheerful face. "Demo, I haven't
decided whether to accept or not."
Sonomi stopped dead in her tracks, confusion written all over her face, "But,
but, why on earth wouldn't you want to? It's a great honor to be accepted to
the school. And you, you've even been invited to join! Think how it will
look on your record!"
"Yes, I know Mother, but," Tomoyo clasped her face in her hands and sighed
deeply, "I, I don't want to leave all of my friends behind. And I like my
school."
Sonomi sat down in the chair next to her. "You mean that you don't want to
leave Sakura-chan," she said shrewdly.
"Hai." Tomoyo said sadly and sighed again.
Her mother leaned back in her chair and let out a long breath, "I've been
meaning to speak to you about that. And I suppose that now is as good a time
as any. Tomoyo, I think you know about Sakura-chan's mother and I, don't
you?"
"Aunt Nadesiko-san? Ee, you keep her wedding bouquet in that box."
"Sou yo. Well, I felt for Nadesiko the same way that you do for Sakura-chan.
And-and I don't want to see you getting hurt the way that I was. When she
married Fujitaka, it was an incredible shock." Sonomi looked down at her
clasped hands, "And I'm afraid that it made me very bitter. Only now am I
starting to understand."
"Maybe if you accepted this invitation…you wouldn't be drawn in the way I
was. A little distance might be a good thing. And perhaps you could find a
new person to care about. I only want what's best for you, you know. No
mother wants to watch her daughter suffer heartbreak."
Silence fell across the dining room table. Finally Tomoyo said, "I
understand what you're saying, but I still can't make a decision just yet."
Sonomi put her arms around Tomoyo and drew her into a tight hug. "And I
won't make you. This is your decision, I won't force you to go to CLAMP
gakuen. Besides, you don't have to make a choice just yet do you?"
Tomoyo shook her head. "Imonoyama-san invited me to come and tour the campus
tomorrow, he said that I could bring a family member or a friend along with
me if I wanted."
Tapping her chin with an elegant finger, Sonomi mused aloud, "Why don't you
invite Sakura-chan to come along with you? I'm sure I can find some board
meeting or something if you'd like me out of the way."
Tomoyo turned and looked at her mother with surprised eyes, "You don't want
to come?"
"Of course I want to." Sonomi hugged her tighter, "I want to be a part of
your life. But I think it might be easier for you to choose without me
standing around."
Tomoyo smiled a little and leaned back into the hug, "Arigato, Okaasan."
"Doitashimashite."
~~~~~~~~~~
Sakura set down the receiver of the phone with a soft click, a blank
expression of shock on her face. Touya stopped chopping up the vegetables,
"What happened?" he asked, trying to sound bored.
"Tomoyo-chan was just accepted to CLAMP campus. She has a meeting with the
elementary student council tomorrow and she wants to know if I want to come."
Sakura said numbly.
"CLAMP campus? Sugoi na." Yukito said laying out the salad bowls. "That's
a very prestigious school."
"Yeah, you'll never get into a school like that with grades like yours.
'Course you are good at gym and stuff." Touya said brushing the chopped
vegetables into the pot. He thought maybe a good rib would bring her out of
her trance.
But Sakura didn't even react. "To-ya, that's mean." Yukito chided him
gently. He touched Sakura on the shoulder, "You don't sound very happy about
it, Sakura-chan."
"I should be. I know I should be." She said softly, her head bowed, "But,
but if she accepts then that means that she's going to leave! She'll find
lots better friends than me, and she won't want to be together anymore! I
know everyone at that school is probably wonderful at everything!
And-and-and…" Sakura dissolved into tears, mumbling something about
'embarrassing costumes' and 'videotape.'
Yukito knelt and pulled her into a hug. She cried into his shoulder while he
and Touya exchanged worried looks. "Ne, Sakura-chan, Tomoyo-chan wouldn't do
that. Even if she does go to that school she would never forget you." Yukito
said.
"Honto?"
Touya nodded, "She is your best friend. And when your friendship is that
important to you, you don't let it fade away."
"You're right, Oniichan. I'll always be there for her. We can still call
and talk to each other, and there's always after classes."
Touya ruffled her hair, earning him an annoyed look, "That's the spirit
Kaijuu."
"Kaijuu ja nai mon!"
"But," Touya knelt in front of her and raised a finger, "You have to make
sure that you don't pressure her into a decision. I know you don't want her
to leave, but don't make it hard on her if she decides to."
Sakura's face saddened, but she quickly masked it with a smile. "I won't.
If my friend is happy then I'll be happy too. So whatever she decides."
~~~~~~~~~
Tomoyo laid on her bed and looked at her collection of video tapes, all lined
up in neat little rows. Some titles stood out from the others,
"Sakura-chan's Valentine's Day," "Sakura-chan's First Date," "Sakura-chan and
Li-kun."
She had spent so many hours taping her. Tomoyo had always known that Sakura
was deeply in love with Yukito, she had never made a secret of it. And now
it seemed that Syaoran was beginning to fall for her charms as well.
She'll probably end up with Li-kun, she thought sadly. She'll end up either
with him or Tsukishiro-san. But not me. Sakura-chan just doesn't see me
that way.
Maybe her mother was right. This could be the perfect escape. And then she
wouldn't have to be there when her beloved chose another. Maybe it would be
for the best…she thought as she drifted off to sleep.
Author notes:
1. This one has been ping-ponging around in my brain for what seems like
forever, so I finally set down to write it. There's not too much to say
about it, except that there's really not that much fic out there about Tomoyo
and her feelings about everything. So this fic will center more on how she
feels about Sakura and letting go. So yeah, parts are going to be really
bittersweet.
2. In the next section the real crossover begins! And most of the fun! Will
Tomoyo decide to enter CLAMP campus? What will happen when a card attacks?
How will they keep the famed CLAMP Campus Detectives from finding out about
Sakura's magic and rescuing them? Will Tomoyo and Akira exchange recipies?
Saa…Who knows?
