Card Captor Touya: Chapter 1

***************************************************************
It was lunch at Tomoeda Elementary. The students were
eating their lunches and chatting. The conversations were
pretty average, except for a particular conversation between
two boys:
"Three Clow Cards. Not bad, but we have more to
catch."
"What's so bad about these cards being loose anyway,
Yuki?"
Well, okay. One boy and one guardian of the Clow.
"Don't call me that, _To-ya_." Yukito gulped down
another sandwich. "If we don't get them back, Disaster is
certain to happen..."
"'Disaster?!'" asked Touya.
"Calm down," said Yukito with a wave of his hand. "I'm
sure it won't happen as long as you keep catching them.
Besides, I don't think enough escaped for the Disaster to be
fully realized."
Touya still looked a little uneasy. He pulled the
three Cards from his backpack. The Cloud. The Gale. The
Bell. "Why did I have to open that book...?"
"Come on, To-ya," said Yukito as he finished the last
of his lunch. "We got to go to PE next."
Touya brightened a little. "Yeah, today's the day we
start playing soccer. I've been waiting for this for a long
time." He put the Cards back into his backpack. He got up and
looked back at Yukito. Yukito, however, looked deep in thought.
"Yuki, what's wrong? Is it a Clow Card?" asked Touya.
Yukito continued to look serious. Then he looked up at
Touya and asked in a very confused tone, "It's...um, what's
soccer?"
Touya fell over.
-----------------------------------------------------
"Goal!"
"Good job, Tsukishiro!" yelled the coach as Yukito
walked off the field after scoring the winning goal for the
yellow team. "Are you sure this the first time you've never
played before?"
Yukito smiled and said, "Yes."
The coach scratched his head. "Boy, you must catch on
really quick."
That's because I'm not a human, thought Yukito as he
continued on his way to the water fountain.
"You lied."
Yukito turned around to see Touya walking behind him.
"About what?" asked Yukito.
"About not knowing how to play soccer."
Yukito sighed, "Humans are intelligent, but they're
much slower in learning compared to Cards. I've always thought
it was because humans are 'magically-impaired.'"
Touya looked at him for a minute and then hung and
shook his head. "Thanks, _Yuki_."
"Kyaaaaaa!!"
Touya and Yukito turned to see the coach running out to
the field. "What's wrong?!" yelled the coach.
The girl tugged at her leg. "My leg's stuck!" Her leg
was caught in the grass' roots. The coach ran over and freed
it. After unraveling the mess, he was shocked to see her leg
all cut over. "What kind of grass is this?" asked the coach.
Touya turned to his companion. "Do you think it's a
Clow Card?"
"Most definitely," replied Yukito.
-----------------------------------------------------
Later that night:
Touya walked into his bedroom. Yue was sitting on the
bed. "What did you get for me?" he asked. Touya produced a
a bag of chips. "Chips? Again?" complained Yukito.
"Hey, if you want something else, get it yourself,"
said Touya. He threw the chips at him.
Yukito grabbed and scarfed them back. "Mmm... Salt and
vinegar." He shook the bag back and ate all the crumbs. Touya
just shook his head. "I swear you eat enough for three
people."
Yukito simply said, "It's not my fault I have to eat to
maintain my strength. If I was still in the Clow with the rest
of the Clow Cards, I could just sleep and conserve energy."
"Look, I told you a million times. My mother's voice
told me to open the book. She wouldn't have told me to open it
unless there was a good reason."
Yukito decided not to argue with Touya. Touya was so
convinced that his mother lead him to the Clow, he couldn't be
swayed otherwise. Yukito could not see the logic behind the
story. He was sure it was just Touya's curiosity that made him
open the Clow...
"Ready to go?" asked Touya. Yukito nodded and great
white wings engulfed him, and after they unfurled, Yue stepped
forward. "Let's go," he said.
-----------------------------------------------------
"So, where is it?" Touya asked as he surveyed the
soccer field.
Yue walked behind him. "Probably below the soil."
"A grass card. That's impressive," commented Touya.
"Not really," said Yue. "Plants are quite formidable.
A simple plant can break walls and roads if given a chance."
Touya just shook his head. At least it will be an easy
fight, he thought. What could a plant do to him anyway?
Suddenly, the ground began to rumble. Touya pulled out
the key and began to chant.
<>
Long grass roots erupted from the ground. They rushed
straight towards Touya. He dodge the first barrage, but the
second wave caught him a little off guard and sliced his
sleeve. "It can cut things?!" he yelled.
Yue was having troubles of his own. The grass had
managed to surround him. He tried to escape, but he found
himself being entangled in the grass. He struggled, but the
more he did, the worse it became.
Touya saw Yue being pulled into the ground with the
roots, and ran to help him. The grass whirled around Yue. Yue
yelled, "To-ya!! Call its name!"
Touya nodded. "Card of Grass!"
The Grass suddenly stopped its attack and began to
regroup and form itself into the shape of woman with a grass
lei and skirt. This was enough relief for Touya. He pulled
out a card, twirled his staff, hit the card and yelled,
The Gale, which took the form of a large seagull-like
creature, erupted from the staff and proceeded to encircle the
Grass. The Grass tried to break out of the loop the Gale had
produced, but every time it tried, it found itself being cut.
The Gale had become a natural lawnmower.
Yue, now free from the Grass, shouted, "It's trapped!"
Touya yelled,
<>
The card reverted to its powered-down state and fell to
the ground. Touya picked it up and then went over to Yue's
side. Touya extended his hand, "Are you all right?"
Yue looked at him a minute and then accepted his hand.
"Thanks."
Touya looked at the card for a moment and smiled.
"Another one down!" Yue nodded, but then pointed to the field.
Touya looked at it and frowned. The soccer field was in the
worst shape it had ever been in. There were pockmarks and
large gashes in the soil. It looked like a battlefield. Heck,
it had been one a minute ago. "I guess I better fix this or
Coach will be ticked off."
<>
The field was once again lush, just the way they found
it. "I guess this card has one use other than causing hate
and discontent."
Yue said, "You could use it to gain an advantage at
soccer."
Touya smiled and said, "Let's go home."

Alrighty! I finished my part! Some answers to this chapter:
1. The cards I came up with (The Bell and The Gale) were the
only things I could think of. ^_^
2. Same with the Grass. However, I think the Grass is cool
because it's stupid sounding and (in my opinion) is lethal.
^_^ ^_^ ^_^
C&C welcome! Flames are snuffed out by my personal Clow Card,
"The Hammer-o-Justice."
