Battle Plan

Shounen-ai, humour.

CardCaptor Sakura belongs to CLAMP, not me.

Night, Kimonoto residence

Toyua woke suddenly, certain that someone had called his name.  He glanced quickly over at his best friend, curled up on the spare mattress on his floor but Yukito appeared to be sleeping.  Toyua rubbed his eyes and sighed.  Yukito looked so adorable while he slept.  Toyua was about to lie back down when Yukito stirred, muttering in his sleep.  Toyua leant over to hear what his friend was saying.

“To-ya, mine.” Yukito muttered and hugged his pillow possessively.  Toyua blinked in confusion.

Inside Yukito’s dream

Yue; Final Judgement Maker, Moon Guardian, beloved of the great sorcerer Clow Reed, hovered a few inches above the ground and frowned.  Opposite him Yukito sat on the strangely reflective surface of the dreamscape hugging a pillow to his chest.  Yue’s frown deepened “And what do you need that for?” he said, pointing to the pillow.

Yukito looked at the pillow in surprise.

“Never mind.” Yue decided it could be ignored. “You do realise why we’re here, don’t you?”

Yukito blinked up at him.

Yue hid a sigh “Toyua-“

“What about To-ya?”

“Let me finish!  Toyua is being stalked by that… that…”

“Girl.”  Yukito supplied, though he said ‘girl’ in a way that suggested it wasn’t a good thing.

“Boy.” Yue corrected.

“What?!”

“Ruby Moon isn’t really a girl.”

Yukito blinked several times. “She’s a…”

“Transvestite, I think is the word you’re looking for.”

“Oh…  I guess To-ya likes that sort of thing then.”  Yukito said unhappily.

“Eh?”

“Do you think…  do you think I’d look pretty in a dress?”

“WHAT?!  No!”

“Oh.  I guess you’re right.”

“That’s not what I meant!  Of course you’d look stunning in a dress, you are my other self after all but that’s not what we’re on about.”

Another adorably confused look.

“Ruby Moon might well like Toyua but she’s not going to get him!” Yue said waving a fist about for emphasis.

“Err, Yue, why?”

“Because we won’t let her!  For that reason we are here.”  Yue was now waving a finger in the air.

“OK…”  Yukito didn’t sound entirely convinced.

“First we need to construct a battle plan, then-“

“Yue?”

“Yes?”

“This isn’t exactly a war.”

“Of course it is!  Faint heart never won fair lady, and all that.”

“Lady?”

“Toyua.”

“Toyua’s a lady?!”

“No, no.  He’s the damsel in distress that needs rescuing from the wicket clutches of Ruby Moon.  You know, like George and the Dragon.”

“Who does that make you then?”

“What?  Oh, the good fairy maybe?  Anyway, it doesn’t matter.  Our objective is to rescue Toyua, who will undoubtedly be eternally grateful and you know what that means!” Yue winked in a rather roguish fashion.

Yukito looked confused then his eyes went wide as realisation dawned “Eternally grateful, you say?” he enquired with an expression that suddenly rivalled Yue’s.

Morning, Kimonoto residence

Toyua tried to keep his eyes on his breakfast, on his sister as she chattered, on the dishes that needed to be done, on anything other than his best friend, who was continually smiling at him with predatory intent.

The doorbell rang and Toyua almost jumped out of his seat to answer it.

“Tomoyo.  Good morning.”

“Is Sakura ready?  We’re supposed to go to school together this morning.”

“Bye!” Sakura yelled suddenly shooting past Toyua and grabbing Tomoyo’s hand.  Toyua could only watch as his little sister dashed off with her best friend, leaving him with his best friend, all alone in the house, with half an hour to spare before they had to leave for school…

He managed to make it back to the kitchen without panicking too much.  Yukito’s smile was still bordering on diabolical though he hadn’t moved from his seat at the table.  Toyua dutifully collected the dishes and began to wash up, or at least he tried to as Yukito slid his arms round Toyua’s waist.

“Err… Yuki?”

“Yes, To-ya?”

“What…”

“What am I doing?  Oh, just this.” Came the reply as he nipped delicately at Toyua’s ear.

The dishes splashed back into the sink.

Lunch time, Seijou High School

Toyua had spent the best part of the day looking slightly flustered, which was a rare thing indeed and as such had been commented on by several of Seijou’s students.  He’d been in a separate class to Yukito before lunch and was now making his way slowly down the corridor to find his ‘best friend’.  Toyua wondered if he should still be calling Yukito that, considering the episode in the kitchen this morning.  What had happened?  How had he suddenly gone from Seme to uke in the space of 24 hours?

Toyua was puzzling over the question when something suddenly attached itself to his arm.  He looked down to visually confirm that the ‘something’ was Akizuki.

“Hey, Toyua!” she grinned up at him.

“Akizuki.”

“Are you going to lunch?”

Toyua was saved from replying by a shocking sight along the corridor in front of him.  Yukito with a girl he vaguely recognised, Ashino, wasn’t that her name?  Seeming oblivious to their audience they were conferring in low voices, then she leaned forward and kissed Yukito on the cheek.  Toyua was stunned.  Ashino strode past them, a triumphant smirk on her face, then she stopped and turning to look directly at Akizuki said “I do think you’ve lost.”

Both Toyua and Akizuki stared after her.

“I think she’s right.” Yukito was suddenly standing next to Toyua.  He smiled, sliding an arm round Toyua’s waist and dragging him off.

Akizuki was left in the corridor, standing and staring in stunned silence.

Evening, Kimonoto residence

Toyua glared at the brat, for the umpteenth time that evening.  Apparently Sakura, Tomoyo, Eriol and Syaoran were working together on a school project.  Still, glaring at Syaoran was keeping his mind off the fact that Ashino kissing Yukito earlier today remained an unexplained phenomenon.  Toyua didn’t care that it had only been a kiss on the cheek, she’d kissed his boy-friend!  Boy-friend?!  He hadn’t just though that, Yukito wasn’t his boy-friend… was he?

Again circumstance seemed to come to Toyua’s rescue, the doorbell rang.  Toyua opened the door to find Ashino grinning cheerily up at him.  Now that was just plain weird, Ashino never grinned and if she did it wasn’t pleasant.

“Hello, Toyua.  I’ve come to pick up my little cousin.”

“Cousin?” Ashino had relatives?

Eriol appeared in the hallway.  It figured, the little boy who knew too much and the girl who always knew what you were thinking were related.  Sakura and Tomoyo were saying goodbye and Syaoran appeared to be leaving too.

“Is your friend coming too?”  Ashino almost sounded too pleasant.

“Syaoran will be staying over.” Eriol informed her.

Ashino waggled her eyebrows at him “Well, I won’t be bothering you boys, you know me, once I’m hooked up I won’t hear a thing!”

“Hooked up?” Sakura asked.

“Online.  Patch it in through an LAN card and I’m set!”

“Hoe?” Sakura was now looking at her brother for an explanation.  Toyua looked equally blank.

“Local area network.” Said Ashino, “Come on kiddies, I’m due a death match soon and if I miss the start I’ll end up playing stupid bots for half an hour.”

Night, Kimonoto residence

Toyua watched the door of Sakura’s room close.  It was a good thing that tomorrow was Saturday since she’d spend the whole night giggling with Tomoyo.  And the brat and Eriol, come to think of it Sakura had said something about it earlier.  Apparently they were good friends now, though Ashino had managed to imply that it was something else.  Ashino, now he needed to find out why Yukio had let her kiss him!

Toyua shut the door of his bedroom firmly behind him “Yuki-“ he began but was cut off by a sudden kiss.

Now lying on his back on the bed with Yukito leaning over him, Toyua felt utterly content.

“Now what was it you wanted to ask me earlier?”

“Nothing.” Toyua sighed as Yukito bend to kiss him again.

Later that night, inside Yukito’s dream

Yukito looked around the strange landscape, several cherry blossoms floated past him, upwards.

“all breaks down, role reversal

but the muse in my head he’s universal” a voice sang out behind him.

He turned to find Yue doing something that could only be described as ‘boogying’.

“Yue?”

The Moon Guardian stopped and delicately pirouetted round to face him.  He was grinning.

“Greetings good sir!  How fairs the aftermath of battle, and the fair Toyua?”

“Eh?  Yue, are you OK?”

“Never better!”

“OK.”  Yukito really wasn’t convinced.

“I’m celebrating.  We’ve trounced the despicable Ruby Moon and won the heart of the fair maiden, what could be better?”

“Sanity?”

Yue frowned “Don’t burst my bubble.  I’ve always wanted to be the knight in shining armour.”

“And you couldn’t do that before?” Yukito sounded like he was applying the principle of humouring the madman.

“Well, Clow just wasn’t the damsel in distress type.”

Yukito just stared.

Hiiragizawa residence

“comes across all shy and coy

just another nancy boy” Ashino sang along, steadfastly ignoring the occasional thud that carried from Eriol’s room.  She’d gladly kept an eye on Aikzuki at school to make sure that she didn’t get her claws into Toyua and while Yukito was making a rather good job of seducing him, the whole plan smacked of Yue’s handiwork.  Yue… it had been centuries since they’d last had a chance to swap notes.  A bleeping from the computer distracted her, message flashing up tell her that Kagetsuya was ready for their match.

Strange, very strange.

OK, Yue and Ashino are both singing along to Placebo’s ‘Nancy Boy’.  I know Eriol and Syaoran are only 10 but nevermind…  Ashino is an original character, though her name is a tribute to the mad scientist in ‘Earthian’, the fact that she’s playing Kagetsuya at the end is just a silly joke.  The game she’s playing is MechWarrior 2 – Ghost Bear Legacy.  Ashino is Eriol’s cousin because that seemed the only way to fit her in properly, call it a trial run for some original stuff I might write.
