I haven't written anything for months! I just recently got back
from my trip to China and this story just came up randomly when I was
on the plane.
Note: This story is occurring as a series of dreams that Suu is
having during the time around Oruha's death. Kakeru means "to
fly" in Japanese. Originally, I wanted to name her Tori, and then
ccs came out and Touya became Tori, so that would be a bit
repetitive. It's a bit weird to have a verb name but hey, Hikaru
is a verb so I guess it's okay.
Disclaimer: CLOVER is copyright CLAMP. I do not own any of these
characters.

Chapter 1: Dream
[dream - n., 1. a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring
during sleep that often express hidden desires or past memories. 2. a
wild fancy or hope, or a condition or achievement that is longed for;
an aspiration.]
The sky was pitch black, as the moon began its monthly rebirth. It
was cold for spring, but the little girl with bright jade eyes and
ghostly white hair wore shorts anyway. The older boy beside her
mirrored her features, but his hair bore a light golden hue. They sat
in an empty park under a wavering street lamp, silent in their own
worlds.
"What's that?" the little girl asked. Her eyes were fixed on a faint
fluttering in the sky. The boy looked up.
"That's a bird," he said. "Just ignore it. It's probably mechanical"
--he ruffled the girl's hair--"but knowing you, Kakeru, if I tell you
not to do something, you're bound to go and do it.
The little girl grimaced, "Onii-chan, you're mean!" and gave him a
satisfying stomp on the foot. She watched him yelp in secret delight
but grinned innocently.
"You're meaner, Kakeru, and you're immature too," his voice was
sarcastic. She returned his words with a punch to his stomach and he
stepped back in artificial pain.
"It's almost my birthday!" her voice was accusing. "You're supposed
to be nice on birthdays." She noted his taunting face in frustration
and punched him again for attention. "I'm serious!"
He assumed a grave expression, "Ahem,.. yes... Happy birthday,
Kakeru. I wish you the best of luck in math and that you will learn
to be more mature." He spoke in a solemn but exaggerated tone. The
little girl noticed this and rained punches on him, "Onii-chan's an
idiot!!" and continued her onslaught. The boy pretended to be
oblivious.
"Ah... did you know that in the ancient text of the Rosetta Stone,
it is said that naughty children makes the gods angry," he grinned
at his sister's inquiring face, "and they will punish them by making
it rain."
Kakeru frowned, "Why naughty children? Why can't adults be naughty?"
The boy stiffened angrily. "Ask the gods that. Tell them they're
wrong."
The little girl didn't seem to notice anything wrong, and laughed at
her brother's words. "But I can't. They won't listen, they'll just
ignore me."
"Then be punished." He gathered his accessories from the ground and
walked away. His sister ran along behind him.
On the lamppost, the silver bird gave a frightened call, and flew to
the embracing darkness. The wind tugged at the synthetic leaves,
their chime-like music echoing through the deserted park. Flashes of
light ripped threw the sky and the heavens screamed.
And then it began to rain.
***
"Oruha, what do you dream?"
"About birds, stars, beautiful songs...what I love."
"You see the people you love in your dreams?"
"Yes. I want to see the people that I love forever."
"Oruha, what do you love?"
"Songs. Other than that...Kazuhiko."

Actually, I finished this story about three weeks ago, but I waited a
long time before I posted it. The entire story is kinda weird. But
Suu's past was a bit unclear and she deserved a story to go along
with it. She kinda has Sakura from ccs' personality, and brother to
go along with it, but she's a bit more aggressive. Also, her brother
doesn't have a name because I never took the time to think one up 0=)
Sorry I haven't finished the rest of Both Sides of the Mirror. It's
really corny and I think I'm going to abandon it and write yet another
story to replace it. I made a mistake of introducing so many new
characters, I think I'll play around with it a bit.
Any comments greatly appreciated!
