For a while, there was onlydarkness. No movement, no thoughts. Then, a thin line of lightcrept through the window, past the sill, past the floor, and pastthe bed till it made its way to the close eyes of a sleepingyoung man. His eyes reflexively closed tighter in hope to avertthe intruder, but it was useless.

Groggily, he sat up in the bed.His first instinct was to look around. He scanned the room withhis blurry eyes. The first look revealed that he was inunfamiliar surroundings. He blinked and then took another look,this one much clearer than the first. Still unfamiliar.

Something moved next to him. Helooked down at the shuffling sheets. Carefully, he pulled backthe covers.

He froze.

He was looking down at a nakedyoung man. A very familiar naked young man.

It was then our subject becameaware of his own nakedness, how close the figure next to him was,and the sticky fluids that adhered to him and the sheets. Withthese new revelations, it all fell into place:

He, Shuukaidou Takeshi, had sleptwith Higashikunimaru Kentarou.

Panic set like wildfire in hismind. Emotions such as anger and fear flooded his thoughts. Hestruggled to find an explanation from his memories, but allTakeshi received was a pounding headache. Kentarou began to stirmore, causing Takeshi to become more agitated. Finally, his brainissued a command through the throbbing pain:

Run.

Takeshi didn't hesitate for asecond. He jumped out of the bed, quickly put on his clothes, atleast he thought they were his clothes, and ran out the door. Heran down the hall, and as he did, he realized he was in theHigashikunimaru mansion. He continued running down the stairs,down another hall, and into a large room, passing sleepingteenagers along the way. He paid no heed to them as he continuedto the main door, opened it, and ran out.

After finally clearing theHigashikunimaru estate and exiting its gates, Takeshi stoppedrunning and began to slowly walk and catch his breath. He was nowaway from the scene of the "crime" and could thinkabout what happened last night. The earlier headache made itspresence know again now that the adrenaline in his body waswaning. Takeshi finally realized what he was experiencing. Ahangover. That puzzled him. That would have meant he had consumedalcohol. That thought caused him to groan as he struggled more toremember the events of last night...

The day before:

Takeshi and Kentarou were walkingout the gates to CLAMP Campus. "We're graduating!!"yelled Kentarou.

Takeshi gave him a disgusted look.Here they were, graduating senior high in two days, and Kentaroucontinued to act like a child. Kentarou continued, "No moreschool! Isn't that great, Takepon?"

"Who is Takepon?" hereplied flatly. "Kentarou, we still have college to thinkabout."

"I know, I know; but that'snot like real school. And we still have a break before it starts,"he said as he placed his hands behind his head. "Besides, weboth passed the exams for CLAMP University, so we have nothing toworry about."

"I still can't believe youpassed," muttered Takeshi under his breath. While he spenthours upon hours studying for the entrance exam, Kentarou hardlyopened a book and managed to match his score. Life wasn't fair.

Kentarou looked at him. "Whatwas that?"

Takeshi merely grumbled, "Nothing."

Kentarou smiled and said, "Youare coming to the graduation party tonight, right?"

"Yeah, might as well."

"You don't seem thrilled."

"It's just another party. Youthrow those things at the drop of a hat."

"When you're wealthy, you cando that, binbou," said Kentarou with a grin.

Takeshi glared at him. "Forthat, I shouldn't come."

Kentarou waved his hands in frontof his face. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!"

Takeshi watched Kentarou's mockapology. He never meant it. He always apologized if he knew itwould get him what he wanted, and it usually worked, like now."I'll come," Takeshi said as he faced away fromKentarou.

"You will?!" saidKentarou as he hopped up and down in glee. "Oh, you won'tregret it! It'll be a party you'll never forget!"

* * *

Boy, did he get that right,thought Takeshi. He would never be able to wash away the memoryof waking up next to Kentarou. He continued to walk aimlessly ashe recalled more of the day before...

* * *

"You made it!" squealedKentarou as Takeshi entered the immense entry hall of theHigashikunimaru mansion.

"I told you I would,"said Takeshi.

They walked to the ballroom.Pretty much everyone from homeroom 3-Z was there, includingSukiyabashi Kotobuki. However, there was one person there who didnot belong to 3-Z, nor did she belong there as far as Takeshi wasconcerned. "What's Erii doing here?" he whispered toKentarou.

Kentarou sighed, "Sukiyabashiwas very insistent on bringing her along. Personally, I wish hewould have left her at home. She's bound to start getting preachyand..."

"Who is going to get preachy?"

Both boys winced as they turned tosee a blonde, odango-haired girl with a bright green auraflickering around her. Neither Takeshi nor Kentarou needed anexplanation for what came next. Erii whipped out her "Hammers-o-Justice"and smacked their heads into the floor.

"Oh, there you are, Erii-san,"said Kotobuki.

"I'm coming!" Erii saidsweetly as she skipped over to her husband, leaving our heroesburied under large wooden mallets. "Ittai..." squeakedKentarou.

"Some things never change..."muttered Takeshi.

* * *

Takeshi shook his head. Somethings never change. In a perfect world, Takeshi's perfectworld, nothing would change. No shocking revelations. School andwork would pass by smoothly without interruptions from youjuu.His friends wouldn't turn out to be aliens from another planet.

And he wouldn't have slept withKentarou.

This was already shattering thecore of his being. He had always believed that he was straightand that could never be changed. But, he gets drunk for the firsttime and finds out that he might very well be homosexual. Takeshipaused at that last thought. How did he get drunk? He certainlydid not drink, ever. Then, how...?

Then it hit him.

* * *

This punch tastes funny, thoughtTakeshi as he took another drink. Sure, it tasted good, but therewas something off about it. He shrugged. Whatever it was, it didn'tmatter; it was probably nothing.

* * *

Kentarou was across the roomtalking with some classmates. "...And that's what she's up,too..." said Kanzaki who then suddenly switched subjects asshe noticed something. "Hey, Higashikunimaru-kun, doesn'tthat punch have a little alcohol in it?"

"Yeah," replied Kentarou."Do you have a problem with it? I mean, we're about to gradu..."

"No," Kanzakiinterrupted. "That's not what I meant. I mean, your friendShuukaidou-kun has been hanging around it for a while."

"Eh?" uttered Kentarouas he turned to the refreshment table. Sure enough, Takeshi wasat the punch downing another drink; and from the looks of it,this was not his second, nor his third or fourth. Kentarousilently cursed himself for not warning his friend about thepunch. Takeshi, as far as he knew and very much doubted, was nota big drinker. He went over to the inebriated Shuukaidou andasked, "Takepon, are you all right?"

* * *

Takeshi turned to see Kentaroubehind him. He smiled. He liked Kentarou. Always there for him;never beating him with mallets or stuff. "I'm fine. Why youaskin'?" he said, his speech slurring a bit.

Kentarou's face was full ofconcern, not that our drunken hero noticed it. "Um, I thinkyou've had a little too much."

"What, thish?" Takeshisaid as he waved the half-full punch cup in Kentarou's face."It'sh real good, Ken... Kenpi. You should have shome."

"Yes, I've had some,"said Kentarou as he removed the cup out of Takeshi's hand. "Andyou have definitely had enough."

Takeshi whimpered as his friendtook away his drink. Why was Kenpi being so mean? Kenpi wasalways so nice. "Kenpi... please..."

Kentarou gave him a stern look.The first that he could remember. "Takeshi, you need to rest.Come on." He grabbed his arm and lead him through thecavernous interior of the mansion.

As soon as they were far from thefestivities, Takeshi grabbed Kentarou's arm with his free hand."Ken-pi... Why're you bein' so mean?"

"Takeshi, you're drunk. I'mtrying to help you."

"I'm not drunk..."

"Then why are you calling me'Kenpi?'"

"'Cause you alwaysh say youlike it," said Takeshi as he was lead into a spare bedroomand forced to lay on the bed.

"Yeah," replied Kentarouwith a sigh. "Too bad you'd have to be drunk to call me that."

Takeshi watched intently as theauburn-haired boy tucked him in. His doe-like eyes, his wild hair;it was all too much. He closed his eyes, focusing on the image ofKentarou. Kentarou was handsome, no, gorgeous. Takeshi wouldnever have to worry about Kentarou treating him badly. He alwaysbrought him lunch, said hello to him, called him 'Darling'...

* * *

Kentarou turned to leave and said,"Do you need anything else?" Takeshi didn't reply rightaway, so he believed he was probably asleep. He started to walkaway when he heard Takeshi call to him. "Kenpi?"

"Yeah?"

"Will you stay here?"

Kentarou walked to the side of thebed. "Sure. What's wrong?"

"Come closer," saidTakeshi as continued to remain motionless. Kentarou complied, andthen was suddenly yanked onto the bed with one swift movement byTakeshi. Takeshi immediately straddled him and placed his handsto the sides of Kentarou's head.

"Takeshi! What are you...!"Kentarou started to protest but then was quickly interrupted byTakeshi's lips on his own. He struggled momentarily, mostly dueto shock, but then calmed down and moved into the kiss. Hewrapped his arms around Takeshi, gripping his shirt. Takeshibrought his head up and began to nuzzle at Kentarou's neck andloosening his shirt.

As pleasurable as it was, Kentarou'sconscience was screaming, <Takeshi is drunk!> He wanted togo through with it, but he finally said, "Takeshi... you'redrunk..." He pushed him away a little. "Maybe we should...wait..."

Takeshi replied with a growl andfiercely kissed Kentarou on the lips. He then said, "You'renot gettin' away that easily... I want you." And with thathe... he...

* * *

Rocking back and forth on the parkbench, Takeshi moaned and tried to stop the flood of newlydiscovered memories of the night before. Part of him rememberedhow good it felt, but that part was overshadowed by the "statusquo" part. Now he was labeled, and there was no turning back.I'm screwed, he thought. He then groaned at his poor choice ofwords and fell into a deeper depression. His head hurt, his mouthwas dry, and he felt dirty. All because he drank too much. Thatdamn Kentarou could have warned him.

And what about Kentarou? Kentarou,as far as he could remember, which wasn't saying much, wasn'tdrunk last night. He had taken advantage of him! Takeshi getsdrunk, and what does Kentarou do? Takes advantage of hisproposition and hops into bed with him. This was all his fault,not his...

"Takeshi!"

Takeshi looked up to see Kentarourunning up to him. He scowled and turned away. He was the lastperson he wanted to see right now, maybe ever. "Takeshi,"panted Kentarou. "I've... been looking for you. Why did youleave?"

"It's kind of obvious,"said Takeshi in his flattest voice, still looking away.

Kentarou gave him a quizzical lookand then said, "Takeshi, you should have stayed. I..."

Takeshi glared at him and growled,"Why should I have stayed?! So you could take advantage ofme again?"

Kentarou was taken aback by thatstatement for a moment and then said, "No, so we could talk."

"What's to talk about?"said Takeshi as he turned away once again. "You had your funand screwed me. Congratulations. You finally got what you wanted."

It was all Kentarou could do notto slap Takeshi that moment. He balled his fists as tightly as hecould. "As I remember," he began, "youscrewed me. You grabbed me, you seduce me, andthen you screwed me."

"You took advantage of me.You knew damn well I was drunk, and yet you still..." Hepaused a moment to find the right words. "...slept with me."

Kentarou looked down. "Yes, Idid. I let myself do it; and while it was the best night of mylife, I regret it."

Takeshi looked at Kentarou to seetears running down his cheeks to the ground below. Kentaroucontinued, "I regret that I blew my chances of ever lettingyou fall in love with me just so I could get laid. I should haveresisted you more, but I couldn't..." The tears increased."I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

As he watched Kentarou standingthere crying into his hands, Takeshi couldn't help but feel bad.He meant it. Kentarou was actually sorry. Every repeat of thewords "I'm sorry" caused Takeshi's heart to break.Kentarou never meant to hurt him. All he wanted was for him tolove him. How could you blame someone for that?

It was then a thought came to hismind. A nagging one. One that practically scared him. Somethingabout last night that he had failed to remember and could havecost him more than his virginity had it gone differently. He gotup and stood in front of Kentarou. "Kentarou, you said Igrabbed you."

"Yeah," sniffed Kentarou.

"Was I really forceful?"

Kentarou thought about it for amoment and then nodded. "Enough to keep you down?"

He nodded again. Takeshi sighed,"Then I should apologize too."

"But you were..."

"Yes, I was,"interrupted Takeshi. "But, what would have happened if youhadn't wanted me?" Kentarou looked at him blankly, notunderstanding. Takeshi looked down and said, "I would haveforced myself on you and..."

Kentarou stared wide eyed atTakeshi and then protested, "No! No! Don't think that way! Iknow it wouldn't have come to that!" He wrapped his armsaround Takeshi's back and put his forehead on his shoulder."It's my fault." He continued to cry.

Takeshi looked down at Kentarou'shead for a second and then smiled. He brought on arm aroundKentarou's waist and the other to his head. "You know what?"

"What?" mutteredKentarou as he continued to bury his head into Takeshi's shoulder.

"It's neither of our faults."

Kentarou looked up at him. Takeshismiled. "It was just a mistake I guess, but I think we canclear our slates and start again."

"Really?!"

"I'm not guaranteeinganything, but we can try."

Kentarou embraced him tighter andcried, not out of sadness, but joy now. A song Takeshi once heardcame to mind as they stood there in each others arms. He hummedit and continued to hold Kentarou.

Yet somethingunpredictable,
but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

This fanfic has beenplaying itself through my head for the past... um... month, Ithink. Actually, I think this one was easier to write than Normaland Different. And do I care that this is perhaps thesappiest fanfiction or story I have ever written?Nope, and you know why? Because I'm happy with it, and I ain'tchanging it.

Thank you to GreenDay for such a lovely lyric. It's my favorite in the world. Thankyou also to Less Than Jake for fast paced music that got mewriting at light speed. ^_^;; Special thanks goes out to Shirou-kunfor cheering me on through the whole process. ^_^
