'Anatomy of a Kiss'
"Lantis..." I frame his beloved face with my trembling
hands.
I didn't even think, let alone worry about the
consequences. I place my lips against his--everything else
is pure sensation.
Warmth.
Firmness.
Moisture.
Maleness.
All my imaginings seem to fade in comparison to the
reality of the kiss. I find myself utterly lost in the
warmth of his breath, the firmness of his lips, the moist
pleasure of his tongue, and the taste of him... then it
was over. He roughly pushes me away, tearing his mouth
from under my own--effectively ending the kiss.
"I'm sorry, Eagle. So very sorry," he says, his
blue-violet eyes filled with pity.
Regrets. I have a few of those myself, but this is
definitely not one of those. Kissing him is not something
I could ever regret doing. Ever. I'm just sorry that he
doesn't feel the same way any more.
_I love you, Lantis._ The words stick in my throat as
he continues to watch me with those impossibly beautiful
eyes. _Is it possible for you to find it in your heart to
love me more than her?_
Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Such a silly question, really.
I would've laughed at the sheer stupidity of it all if
only I didn't hurt so badly.

It was a dark and stormy night...
Nah, it was dark because someone was too lazy to
bother with the lights, and for the record, it just
happened to be well past midnight already... but yes,
there was a hell of a thunderstorm raging outside...
Well, one out of three ain't that bad, right?
The fanfic writer sniffled as he re-read the last
scene. "This is going to be one of my greatest
masterpieces yet!" he crowed, pushing back a pair of
wire-rimmed glasses up his nose. "BWAHAhahaha!"
The howling winds rose in cresendo in time with his
burst of maniacal laughter. Unfortunately, the entire
effect was followed, and ultimately ruined, by a huge yawn
from the aforementioned fanfic writer himself.
He streched his lanky frame, all the while letting out
another voluptuous yawn, and checked the time on his
windows taskbar: 2:45 AM. He slouched in his swivel chair
and rubbed his eyes. The words on the screen were starting
to do the rumba. This could mean only one thing...
Time for another caffeine fix.
He pried himself from the comfort of his swivel
chair--not without great difficulty, mind you--grabbed his
empty mug and padded down to the kitchen to fix himself
fresh pot of extra strong super deluxe Java coffee.

2:45, 2:46, 2:47... The screensaver started... well,
it was supposed to... but then, something entirely
different happened.
The screen blinked and suddenly crackled with a bluish
electric charge. Two hands emerged from the depths of the
blank screen and grabbed the edge of the monitor. It was
followed by a head with a rather curious expression on its
face.
"Nice place he's got here," the head said, its eyes
taking in the homey feel and lived-in clutter of the attic
bedroom.
"Eagle, get moving. My shoulders are starting to
ache," a voice complained.
"Heck, Geo, for a big guy, you sure do whine a lot,"
Eagle said as he hastily extracted himself from the depths
of the blank screen of a 21-inch SVGA Packard Bell
Monitor. He accidentally nudged the mouse, prompting the
screen to display a text editor window.
"Hmmm, let's see... what has he written so far?" He
scrolled the text document and started reading from the
top.
Eagle's expression got darker with every click of the
mouse at the scroll bar. The only thing that kept him
reading was to see if the next scene was as bad as the
previous one. He was dead wrong--it was actually far more
worse. His left eyebrow was twitching involuntarily when
he finally reached the end of the chapter.
"I have had enough of this!!!" he snarled through
gritted teeth.
He threw himself on the swivel chair, wrapped a white
strip of cloth (with the Japanese word for 'Editor'
written in red ink) around his forehead and started typing
like mad.

'Anatomy of a Kiss' - Eagle Reprise
"Oh, Hikaru..." I frame her beloved face with my
trembling hands.
I didn't even think, let alone worry about the
consequences. I place my lips against hers--everything
else is pure sensation.
Warmth.
Softness.
Moisture.
Sweetness.
All my imaginings seem to fade in comparison to the
reality of the kiss. I find myself utterly lost in the
warmth of her breath, the softness of her lips, the moist
pleasure of her tongue, and the sweet taste of her... then
it was over. She pushes against my chest, gently tearing
her mouth from under my own--effectively ending the kiss.
"I'm sorry, Eagle. So very sorry."
Regrets. I have a few of those myself, but this is
definitely not one of those. Kissing her is not something
I could ever regret doing. Ever. I'm just sorry that she
doesn't feel the same way. What can I say?
_I love you, Hikaru._
Bet Lantis never got around to telling her THAT.
_Is it possible for you to find it in your heart to
love me more than him?_
Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Such a silly question, really.
I would've laughed at the sheer stupidity of it all if
only I didn't hurt so badly.

The fanfic writer gripped his mug of extra strong
super deluxe Java coffee as he stared at the screen in
horror. He took a long swallow of the scalding brew before
letting out a barbaric yawl.
"Aarrgghh!!!"
"Hey! Mind keeping it down? That howling of yours is
enough to wake the dead," Eagle groggily muttered as he
got up from the bed.
"YOU!" The fanfic writer pointed an accusing finger at
Eagle. "You did this--" he pointed at the screen, then
turned his attention back to Eagle, "--didn't you?!"
"And 'bout time I did something about it, too!" Eagle
replied, crossing his arms against his chest. "There's NO
way I'm doing a lip-lock with Mr. No-Personality."
"I heard that, Eagle--" a disembodied voice warned
from the monitor.
"Eeeep!" The fanfic writer scuttled away from the
monitor as the screen blinked once again.
A blinding light engulfed the entire room. When the
light finally faded, Lantis was standing in the room with
them.
"Wow."
Eagle snorted and muttered under his breath, "Show-
off."
"--and that revision of yours is totally
unacceptable!" Lantis coldly stated without preamble.
"I absolutely agree!" the fanfic writer seconded,
thankful to have somebody on his side.
Eagle batted his eyelashes at Lantis. "You mean, you'd
rather I kiss you instead?!"
Lantis' face immediately twisted in disgust while that
of the writer beamed with rapture.
"NO!" "Ohh, YES!" they both shouted at the same time.
Lantis managed an icy sidelong glance, forcing the
fanfic writer to back away.
Eagle walked over to the computer and plopped down on
the swivel chair, "Then I don't see a problem." he said
with quiet gravity, making a steeple with his hands as he
swiveled on the swivel chair.
"Of course there's a problem! YOU are my PROBLEM!" the
fanfic writer ranted. "What gives you the right to tamper
with MY story!"
"The right to choose?" Eagle casually reached into the
screen and pulled out...
"Hikaru!" Lantis started, only to stop in mid-stride
when Eagle put up a barrier.
"What am I doing here, Eagle?" she asked, fidgeting in
her seat. It did not take her long to figure out just
exactly what, or rather who, she was sitting on. Blushing
quite prettily she managed to whisperingly ask, "And why
am I sitting on your lap?"
"I just need your help for a short demonstration," he
whispered back.
"Oh." Hikaru caught Lantis' cold gaze, causing her
blush to turn a few shades darker.
"As I was saying," Eagle turned to address the fanfic
writer, "who in their right mind would want to hug an ice
block like him," he jerked a thumb at Lantis, "when they
could cuddle up to a cute huggable li'l redhead like her?"
he crooned, giving Hikaru a hearty squeeze.
"Ummm... Eagle, I can't breathe," she squeaked.
Eagle immediately loosened his hold and grinned.
"Sorry, guess I got a little carried away."
Lantis silently fumed. Looking at him, you would not
have guessed that he was sorely pissed. But the crimson
aura starting to glow around him told Eagle otherwise.
"Eagle..." There was definitely a note of warning in
his arctic tone.
"Hikaru-chan, I think you'd better go back now," Eagle
said, fondly tucking a wayward curl behind her ear.
Hikaru turned to wave at the man standing beyond the
barrier. "Bye, Lantis."
Eagle helped her slip back inside the monitor. "Bye,
Eagle," she said, giving him a worried look from beyond
the screen, "And I do wish you'd stop provoking Lantis."
"Oh, Hikaru..." Eagle's expression turned somber as he
framed her face with his hands.
(C'mon! You know what happened next!)
