"Yes Umi?" replied Hikaru looking up at the slender girl. "I need to ask you a question," said Umi as she sat Hikaru down across from her at a small table located in the room they were in. "You can ask me anything Umi," replied Hikaru with a sunny smile. "I hope you don't think I'm being too...what I mean to say is...are you sure that Lantis and Eagle are okay with you loving them both?" Hikaru took in a sharp breath and said, "...I can't choose between them Umi...I love them both so very much. They both told me it was alright and that they would love me no matter what." "That may be so but the fact is...are you sure you love them both in the same way?" asked Umi looking carefully at Hikaru's face. "Of course," replied Hikaru... but a trace of doubt was in her voice. "Hikaru I want you to do something for me," said Umi quietly. "Anything, just name it," replied Hikaru. "When you are with Lantis or Eagle I want you to examine what you feel for both of them seperately, can you do that for me?" "Yes, of course," replied Hikaru looking down at her hands. "Hey now," said Umi lifting Hikaru's face by the chin, "I'm sorry If I upset you, but I just want my little sister to be happy." Hikaru gave a small smile and said, "I know that...and I am...You just trying to help me get my feelings all in order." Umi patted Hikaru on the head lovingly and said with a hint of arrogance in her voice, "Come on Hikaru let's show off how my really cool chainmail looks on you!" "Ok Umi-chan!" agreed Hikaru happily. And with that the two exited the armory and entered the main hall where everyone was. *The Planning Of A Celebration* "You look beautiful!" said Eagle happily as grabbed Hikaru and lifted her up into the air. "Thank you Eagle," said Hikaru, a rosy flush appearing on her cheeks. "Hey where's Lantis?" asked Umi looking around, "Where'd he go?" "YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY LANTIS!" shouted Primera to Umi, shooting her patented, *FAIRY GLARE* at Umi. "WHO SAID I WANTED HIM YOU PARANOID PIXIE!" shouted back Umi, shooting her much more powerful, patented, *DEATH RAY OF UMI* at Primera. Primera meekly flew off while Umi was being held back by a flustered Ascot. "If that fairy comes near me again I'll rip off her wings," growled Umi as she sulked. "Now, now dear," said Ascot nervously, "You don't want to do that, do you?" "TRY ME!" burst out Umi angrily. "I'll just go see how those swords I were making are doing," said Presea hastily, knowing when Umi was in such a mood it was not a good idea to stay around. "Yo, Ascot, is your wife p.m.s.ing??" whispered Ferio from across the room. "No she's always like that," replied Ascot. "WHAT!! I HEARD THAT!" shouted Umi as she took out her patented Mokona Basher, "I normally just use this on Mokona but now I see two more likely victims that wanna become a Marshmallow Pancake!" "Umi...can we go talk in my room?" asked Clef quietly as Ferio and Ascot stared in wide-eyed terror at the menacing figure that Umi made. Umi put away her Mokona Basher and said calmly, after straightening a few wrinkles on her uniform, "Of course Guru Clef." "Do you think he knows what's going on with her?" whispered Ferio, looking around just in case Umi might still be lurking around. "Could be, my uncle's very perceptive of these things," replied Ascot in the same whisper-like quality. "I believe Umi-chan might just be worried," said Fuu with a knowing smile. "Whenever Umi-chan becomes worried she always tries to unleash that feeling by taking it out on others agressively. For instance Mokona." "Where'd Hikaru go?" asked Ferio suddenly noticing the absence of Hikaru and Eagle. "Oh they probably went off to cuddle, the cute little things they are," said Caldina with a wink. "I know what we can do to occupy ourselves and take our minds off of whatever is troubling us!" said Fuu with a gently smile, "We can plan a celebration party, celebrating the fact that we are once again reunited with the people who we love and care for." "She's got a point there," said Ferio thoughtfully, "And we could use that as a way to take our minds off of what might happen to Hikaru, Eagle and Lantis." "Alright! LET'S DO IT!" shouted Caldina smiling, "I've been itching to brew some nice Chizetan Tea! with a splash of alcoholic spirits of course!" added in Caldina with a wink. "Then let's get started," said Ferio with a smile. "YEAH!!" shouted everyone agreeing. *Umi And Clef* "Umi tell me what's wrong," said Clef quietly. "Nothing's wrong Guru Clef," replied Umi calmly and quietly. "I thought we had dispensed with formality," replied Clef fixing his calm blue gaze on her, "What is wrong?" "None of your buisness midget," replied Umi with more anger behind her words then she had meant, now Clef knew something was wrong. Clef placed a firm grip on Umi's arm and said, "You can tell me anything Umi, please tell me what is wrong." "Oh Clef..." sighed Umi, "It's just that I'm still worried about Hikaru. I don't know what might happen to her when...." Umi sighed once again. "You're worried that what happened in the past might repeat, am I right," said Clef turning around abruptly, "And...it's because you love her." "Of course I love her," replied Umi softly, "She's my little sister." "Yes you love her like a little sister...and more," said Clef quietly as he looked upon Umi's aristocratic face. Umi looked at him sharply and said angrily, "I don't know what you mean! What are you implying?" "I am saying that you love her as more than a friend, deep down in your heart you know that what I say true," replied Clef sharply. Umi looked away and said, "You're right. But I won't do anything to hurt her and If I tell her my feelings then it will hurt her, because she knows not loving me will cause me pain...and she hates it when I am in pain." "And Ascot?" asked Clef as he studied her face intently. "Oh I love him too," said Umi looking up at Clef with tears in her eyes, "I love him just as much as I love 'Karu!" Clef smiled and said warmly, "Then you have nothing to fear." "What do you say that Clef?" asked Umi curiously. "Look deep within your heart and you shall see," replied Clef. "What kinda answer is that!" screamed Umi. "The kind that answers your question," replied Clef, "Now let us get back to the main hall. They're all probably wondering what an old man like me is doing with such a young pretty lady like you." Umi blushed and said wickedly, "You know what they say, with age comes knowledge! And no doubt you have enough knowledge to fill up Cephiro!" Clef was about to retort when all of a sudden Caldina burst in shouting, "HEY Y'ALL! WE'RE GONNA HAVE A CELEBRATION!" "For what?" asked Umi and Clef simultaneously. "That y'all are back here in Cephiro!" replied Caldina with a grin. "ALRIGHT!" shouted Umi, "I'll help bake some cakes!" "What are those?" asked Caldina curiously. "Eh...they're food," replied Umi with a slight sweatdrop, "I'll show you how to make it." "That's great Umi!" said Caldina enthusiastically. "And why don't we decorate... Clef smiled at the two women who were planning the celebration and thought, "With any luck...this celebration will be just what we need to take our minds off of Hikaru, Lantis and Eagle's fate." *Hikaru And Eagle* "Eagle!" screamed Hikaru in delight, "Stop it! What if someone comes in!" "So what," replied Eagle as he stole another kiss from Hikaru, "I locked the door." Hikaru leaned her head against Eagle and asked softly, "Eagle...do you mind that I love you both??" Eagle moved back slightly so he could look down at Hikaru's delicate face and said, "I don't mind as long as I have you. Besides I don't mind sharing with Lantis, best friends do like sharing you know." Eagle had said that last sentence with such...well you know...that Hikaru in her innocence looked up at him uncomprehendingly. Eagle chuckled at his beloved's naivete (And yes I know there's s'ppose to be an accent on top of the e, I just don't know how to put it in) and said softly, "I was just kidding Hikaru." "So you don't mind?" asked Hikaru. "For you I would do anything," replied Eagle answering her question without truly giving his answer. Hikaru sighed, knowing that was as much as she could get out of her angelic like lover. "There you two are," said a low gruff voice. The two whirled around to see Lantis looking at them both fondly, "What are you two doing?" "Making out and thinking of having children," replied Eagle jovially. "Well then why didn't you come and get me?" asked Lantis with a slight grin on his face. "Oh we were just about to but who could resist such a cutie like Hikaru," replied Eagle just as cheerfully as before. "Eagle! Lantis!" shouted Hikaru, a rosy blush appearing on the bridge of her nose, "Stop it!" "We're only kidding Hikaru," replied Eagle, "But after the wedding...who knows (Smile)." At that point Hikaru was far from blushing, she looked like a tomato! "Eagle keep your hormones in check," said Lantis noticing Hikaru's flushed state, "I just heard that we're gonna hold a celebration." "What kind of celebration?" asked Hikaru perking up at the word, 'Celebration.' "That we're all back here in Cephiro, reunited," replied Lantis. "ALRIGHT!" shouted Hikaru happily, "LET'S GO!" With that Hikaru grabbed both her beau's hands and began to drag them to the main hall. *More Planning* "I'm in charge of cooking," said Umi defiantly, daring anyone to try and upstage her with a cocked eyebrow and her hands on her hips. No-one did. "Fuu-chan you can be in charge of planning the decorations!" shouted Hikaru smiling. "And Ferio can help!" "Darn-tootin!" came Ferio's reply while Fuu blushed prettily. "What about you Hikaru?" asked Umi curiously. "I'm gonna go collect flowers to give to everyone," replied Hikaru with a radiant smile on her face. "And Lantis and Eagle are gonna help me!" Umi gave a small sigh and thought, "She looks so beautiful smiling...I'll do whatever it takes to keep her smiling." "Umi is something wrong?" asked Ascot who noticed her forlorn expression. "Not at all," replied Umi smirking arrogantly, "Now c'mon lover-boy you're gonna help me with the baking!" With that Umi began to drag Ascot to the huge kitchens of the Palace of Glass. "Well I'll be off," said Fuu with a clipboard in her hands. "Where did you get that clipboard Fuu?" asked Hikaru curiously. "Did you not know Miss Hikaru?" asked Fuu cheerfully, "We each have something that we can pull out of the air mysteriously. With Umi it is her Mokona-basher, with me it is my Clipboard and with you it is the cute cat ears and tail." "Oh!" said Hikaru, half in surprise and half in understanding. "Well I'll be off now," said Fuu a pen appeared mysteriously out of thin air right behind her ear, as she went off to gather the materials she would need. Hikaru turned to Caldina and asked, "Hey Caldina what are you going to do?" "I'm gonna help that lil missy Umi with the bakin," said Caldina, "While making a batch of Chizetan Tea...::Giggle::" "I will help Fuu with the decorations," said Clef regally before disappearing after Fuu. "Well then!" said Hikaru turning to Eagle and Lantis, "Let's go to the flower field!" *Flower Field: The Time for Decisions* Hikaru skipped through the field carefully trying to avoid stepping on any flowers, while she gathered pretty flowers, small flowers, gorgeous flowers, one by one. She ran back to Eagle and Lantis with a whole bunch of flowers in her hand and said cheerily, "Look at these pretty flowers!" "Hikaru...." said Lantis quietly, "I would like to speak to you." "You mean WE," said Eagle looking at Lantis. Hikaru looked at both of them and said, "Alright, sure." "Let's sit down," said Eagle leading them to a hidden gazebo, that Hikaru had created, with her will, way before so the three could have privacy when they wanted it. "Lantis and I were talking," said Eagle hesitantly, "And we realized that no matter how much we love each other, it's just not fair to any of us." "...What are you talking about....?" asked Hikaru staring at them. "After the wedding," said Lantis, "Who will get you first?? Who gave you your first kiss, when the other wanted to? Who took you to a certain place when the other wanted to?" Hikaru looked down at her feet...Umi had been right..., "Are you asking me to choose between you to?" Hikaru finally asked quietly. "We both know it's a hard decision to make," said Eagle softly...wanting to reach out to his beloved, "but it must be made." Hikaru looked up with tears streaming from her eyes and asked, "Is it fair even then?? To choose one while the other is miserable? Would it make us happy to know that someone we love hurts and is in pain because of my decision, because of a decision that you are forcing me to make?" The two men stared at her...her tears were even beautiful...crystalline clear and so very innocent. "But is it fair to leave the other jealous? unhappy?" asked Eagle. "To have the other suffer still?" asked Lantis seriously. "So I see," said Hikaru looking at both of them. "Neither of you are happy to be with me...if that is the case I will leave you two." "Hikaru no! it's not like that." shouted Eagle taking Hikaru into his arms ...but even in his warm embrace she was cold and stiff in his arms. "I caused this pain," said Hikaru with tears in her eyes, "The creator may be right to seperate us. I could not bear to cause pain for anyone...and here I am doing it." "No, Hikaru," said Lantis stepping forward...but it was already too late. Hikaru had burst free from Eagle's embrace and had fled back to the castle... leaving flowers behing in her stead. Once bright and beautiful now trodden to the ground in sadness...and as the two men stood there it began to rain...the petals once beautiful with brilliant colorful hues now stained with blackness. *Palace Of Glass* "Is it right...was it ever right?" wondered Hikaru to herself as she sped back towards the castle, tears flowing down her cheeks. Hikaru quietly snuck into her room and sat on her bed thinking... "No...I see now," said Hikaru in a whisper, "It wasn't fair of me to want them both...what a child I am. What a selfish child I am..." "Hikaru are you in there?" came a voice...Umi's voice. "Yes...yes I am Umi," said Hikaru softly...but loudly enough for Umi to hear. Umi came in, wearing a long sky blue night gown and asked, "I just saw Lantis and Eagle...they had the saddest looks I've ever in my life on their faces." "...I've made a decision Umi," said Hikaru staring Umi right in the eyes ...her carnelian eyes hard with the duty that had befallen her when she had become the pillar...and slightly soft with the sadness that was to come. Umi drifted closer to Hikaru and sat next to her saying, "Hikaru...this isn't about Eagle and Lantis is it?' "It is," said Hikaru softly, "I've decided that when the creator comes...I will agree with him. I will rule alone as the pillar of Cephiro...without Eagle and Lantis by my side." "Hikaru, no!" gasped Umi staring at Hikaru in a mixture of horror and undeniable longing. "Why are you doing this?" "Oh Umi..." sighed Hikaru sadly. "I can't tell you what happened between me...Eagle and Lantis...please understand." "Of course I do," said Umi with tears in her eyes. "But...I don't want you to be unhappy Hikaru..if anything your happiness means to world to me..and I know you won't be happy with this decision." "Umi I-" but Hikaru was cut off when Umi suddenly leaned forward and kissed Hikaru. "Umi?!" gasped Hikaru, her eyes wide open. Umi pulled away and stared at Hikaru with wide surprised eyes and said, "Hikaru...I...I didn't...mean to!" Umi put a hand to her mouth in horror then fled the room. "Umi it's alright!" shouted Hikaru but Umi was already beyond hearing. Hikaru listened to the blue haired girl's footsteps still they faded away...and slowly a tear traced it's way down her cheek... "Not only did I hurt Lantis and Eagle..I was also blind to my best friend's feelings towards me," whispered Hikaru in a trembling voice. "Puu Puu?!" came Mokona bouncing in from the window. Hikaru just sat there on her bed..letting the tears slowly slide down her face. "Puu Puu Puu!!????" asked Mokona in a worried voice. Hikaru reached for Mokona and hugged him tight to her and asked, "What did I do wrong Mokona??" "Puu Puu," said Mokona, his own equivalent to, "It's alright." Hikaru remained silent for a second more before sobbing out, "What's wrong with me!!"
