"I know what I must do," whispered Hikaru sadly, "No more pain...no more sadness...I don't want anyone else in pain because of me...so if I'm not here anymore...then I can't hurt anyone..." And with that she wrote a note: Dear Minna... Gomen...gomen for everything.... To the people I have hurt...I'm so sorry for causing you pain...I never meant to... But now...after this day there will be no more pain...for if I am no longer around...then there will be no more pain... I have already solved the problem of who will be pillar after me, Clef...because no matter what Clef has always been the one who has cared for Cephiro more then himself... I guess...I guess...I'm not fit to be pillar... I'm writing this note to tell you all not to come after me...you won't be able to... Even now...I will be hurting others...others I don't even know... Everyone stopped what they had been doing to prepare for the party and stared at the harried looked Umi as she gasped for breath. "Daijabou Umi?" asked Clef blinking. "'Karu's gone!" shouted Umi waving a note about. At that Lantis grabbed the note from her hands and grew white.... "It's starting all over again...masaka..." thought Lantis, "I won't let it happen..." "What's that missy think she's doing?" said Caldina her eyes wide open with shock, "Why is she leaving all of a sudden?" "Oh my! Hikaru-chan!" gasped Fuu, after reading the letter, before her eyes fluttered shut and she fainted, with Ferio catching her before she totally conked herself out. "What does that last line mean?" asked Ascot mulling over the last line of Hikaru's letter as Fuu began to open her eyes. "C'mon Fuu, it's alright," soothed Ferio as he brushed away some errant strands of golden hair away from his love's face. "Even now...I will be hurting others...others I don't even know...," recited Clef...before totally going pale..."She's...that power surge I felt before...she's used the spell to call for the magic knights!" At that Fuu fainted once again while Umi stared in utter shock asking with a trembling voice, "Does that mean...that Fuu and I...must go...and kill 'Karu?" "No...she's summoned new ones," whispered Eagle, "Ones that will have no feelings for her...and will think what they are fighting for is right and true....just like you three did..." "But can't we tell them new Magic Knights that they can't kill her!?" shouted Caldina frantically. "They won't believe us," replied Clef quietly, "Hikaru will make sure of that... they'll just think we're trying to manipulate them..." At that Umi fell to her knees and began to sob, while Ascot tried desperately to console her... "Then we have no choice," said Lantis breaking the tension in the room, "We'll kill them instead." "Lantis!" gasped Presea (Sierra, yes I do know that it's not really Presea in the 2nd season) "He's right," said Eagle with a dark look on his face, "We won't let them near Hikaru..." "Then we're in agreement," said Lantis with an understanding look in his sad eyes as he looked upon Eagle, "No matter what may become of us...we will protect Hikaru." Eagle nodded and said with a small sigh, "I wouldn't have it any other way." "But you can't!" shouted Presea, "They're innocent!" "This is Hikaru," replied Umi getting up with a fierce look on her face, "If they hurt her...I'll destroy them. I don't care how innocent they are...Hikaru's innocent too you know..." "I cannot condone this!" said Clef seriously as he banged his staff upon the floor, "You are talking about taking the lives of people we do not yet even know of!" "So you are willing to let Hikaru die?" shot back Umi, "I would choose Hikaru over any stranger Clef-san, no matter what!" "Ne...we can try to convince them first okay?" said Ascot gently. Clef looked away and said, "If you try to kill them...then you will be going against me..." "So then the past repeats," spat out Umi viciously, "The great Guru Clef guiding the heroes and trying to regain justice by killing the ones closest to the pillar. The undeniable truth of innocence being shattered...is that what you want! Do you want Hikaru dead! Do you want more guilt on your conscience!?" The last part was being screamed out till Ascot calmed her down with a restraining grip on her shoulder whispering, "That's enough, Umi...please calm down" "Guru Clef...we'll try to reason it out with them," said Lantis quietly but seriously, "But if they refuse to listen...and worse comes to worst...there will be blood spilled...and it will not be any of ours..." Clef collapsed to his knees asking in a ragged voice, "What do you want of me?" "You're support," said Eagle stepping forward, "You know what we say is true...even now you know...yet you try to deny it for you do not want any more blood spilled because of Cephiro...but are you willing to give up Hikaru just for that sake?" "No," whispered Clef in a trembling voice, "Never Hikaru...I will aid you...and support you all." "Arigatou-gozaimasu Clef-san," said Umi softly, "Gomen-nasai...I didn't mean to yell." "It's alright," replied Clef standing up once again, "What worries me is what Fuu's decision will be..." "I will fight for Hikaru," said Fuu, her eyes narrowed, as she stood up and pushed her drooping glasses ack up, "No matter what I will not have any regrets about this...if these new magic knights refuse to listen...then there is no choice but death for them." "We have Lantis, Eagle, Fuu, Clef and I...what about you guys?" asked Umi softly as she looked upon the others. "I'm in," said Ferio placing his arm around Fuu's shoulder, "Hikaru's like a little sister to me...and also I've got to be there to protect Fuu." At that Fuu blushed and whispered, "Arigatou Ferio..." "I'm in too," said Ascot quietly, "And that's all there is to it...I will not allow any danger to befall Hikaru or Umi...or anyone else I care about for that matter..." "Then all that's left is for Caldina and Lafarga to decide," said Umi looking upon the strawberry haired woman and swordsman. "You guy's know my answer," replied Caldina with a smile, "No questions asked, I'm in." "If Caldina agrees, then I too will be a part of this," replied Lafarga stolidly. "For Hikaru," whispered Lantis... "For Hikaru," murmured the others solemnly.... Castle of Tears: Hikaru's Lament Hikaru sat upon a throne...wearing a white shiftlike dress, with a loose golden hoop draped around her hips, her hair tied up into a topknot... Upon a surface of glass Hikaru watched as her friends and ex-lovers agreed to fight for her... "Fools...you are all fools," whispered Hikaru...the shadows hiding her eyes...but not the tears that slipped down her cheeks. "How can you fight for one such as me," gasped out Hikaru as she stood up and walked over to the glass image...the white shift floating ephemereally behind her...and with a sudden movement she struck the image, forcing it to shatter to bits... And as the shards of glass rained down upon Hikaru...glittering fragments attaching themselves to Hikaru's clothes and hair...Hikaru's heart slowly began to break even more... "You're all fools," sobbed Hikaru, "All of you!" "You want me to deal with them?" asked a soft melodious voice from the shadows. "No Azumi...stay here," replied Hikaru softly, "Don't do anything till I say so." "Alright Hikaru...if you say so," replied Azumi softly as her shadow departed...till once again Hikaru was alone... "Alone," whispered Hikaru, "And then soon peaceful death will take hold of me...is this what you felt Emeraude?? Is this is that why you wanted to die with Zagato...so that you could truly be free...no matter what...but my predicament is not the same as yours...for I will die alone...without my loved ones... In my opinion it was a bit morbid... but then again I needed a change...plus someone complained to me about how Hikaru is not that...innocent and childish...well now I guess she isn't...instead now she's suicidal and on the verge of insanity and very OOC...but maybe not...I guess we'll just have to see... ja ne minna, arigatou-gozaimasu for reading my sucky fic.
