A fanfic from the heart, this is a story imagined from an event, a story
brought about by sadness and heart break, and this is how it goes......
Note: This story was inspired by an event in my life that I don't wish to talk
about at the moment(or at all for that matter). I am writing this in hopes to
vent my anger, and get the frustration out of me, and this story might get
dark at times. It is the next in the series of what if's I did, but don't
think of it as that, but a story in itself. These are my emotions, enjoy.(I
want suggestions, ideas, complaints, and compliments, if I don't suck, and
please, be honest)
Day I Died
written by Ismael Alvarez

Part 1
He looked out the window. Dark grey clouds were lining the sky, with no end
in sight. The never ending sight was to him a reflection of his emotions. The
man stood tall, with black hair. His face was solemn, as he had kept it for
quite some time. He seemed to have no emotions what-so-ever. He wasn't quite
happy, with the current events. Some thoughts were of hatred, some of sadness.
He could not shake the terrible feelings that came over him, the same feelings
he had begun to harbor the night he heard.....
"Lantis, there is news from Cefiro" a messenger said.
"Really? What is it?" the man said, not knowing what would come next. What
the messenger would say tore the man apart, sending him into deep despair,
guilt, and trauma.
"Your brother, and the princess, they both.....have been killed."
"WHAT! HOW CAN THIS BE!" Lantis didn't know what came over him. He felt as if
his very soul was shattered into fragments of glass.
"They were killed by the MA-" He didn't get to finish, for as the messenger
started to speak, Lantis rushed out of the room with blinding speed. Something
had to be done.......
From that time until now, all he thought of was revenge, and his thoughts of
anger were directed to one source. The Magic Knights. He had heard about what
happened later, and decided to go back, to get his revenge. Now, after he came
back, his mind was changed. As this small girl stood before him, somehow, the
thoughts of revenge receded, and he felt a little less sad. In some way, this
girl had helped him regain some sanity, and become sensible. The girl was
crying, and she appeared to have the same terrible feelings that he had, if
not more. She pleaded with him, as she was crying, and perhaps this was what
softened him up.
"I'm sorry *sob* I killed your brother, and I don't think you would forgive
me and my friends, but if you want to hurt any of us......or kill us, don't
hurt my friends, do what you will with me, please. I beg of you!" Her words
melted his heart. He looked at her with compassion, and kindness. Hearing of
his brothers murderer, he somehow understood what had happened. She didn't
mean to do it, and as he would discover later, she never had any intent on
ever trying such a thing. She was almost forced to do it.
"I'm not going to hurt you" At these words she looked up at him, her salty
tears still streaking down her cheeks.
"What?" She couldn't believe her ears.
"I'm not mad at you" He couldn't believe what he was saying, but the words
just came out, almost naturally.
"I am not mad at you or the other Magic Knights. Don't worry, I don't want
revenge. I am going to be honest with you, I came here with those intentions,
'whoever did this to my brother was going to pay' were the only words I could
think." Hearing this frightened her, and backed off. She still couldn't
believe the things he said. For all she knew, he could go on a berserker rage
any second and kill her and her friends.
"Don't worry, your nervous, just relax, I said I wasn't going to hurt you."
To both their surprises they found an element of sincerity in his voice. An
Erie tone of truth that made the both of them a bit uncomfortable, for
different reasons.
"I know you are mad about me killing your brother, so at least hit me, I know
you want to." She closed her eyes and clenched her teeth, anticipating his
hand coming across her face.
"No, I am not angry. Please don't think I'm going to hit you." Somehow he
could manage the words, but something in his mind told him he was totally
wrong. He ignored that little voice, as nagging as it was.
"Really? Your not mad? I would think...." Just then she was interrupted by a
small angry figure which started yelling something incoherent into her face.
The tiny being was like a miniature human with wings.
"Wow, its a fairy" the girl decided, thinking to herself.
"What's wrong there little fairy? I cant understand a word your saying."
These words angered the "fairy" even more, and made her yell words that made
sense this time.
"Hmph, I guess this girl doesn't know the old Cefirian language! Kids there
days.(I guess this language would be our equivalent to Latin in antiquity,
just to give you an idea)And I'm not a fairy! I'm a pixie, there is a big
difference. Anyway, STAY AWAY FROM MY LANTIS!!"
"I'm sorry, who is this Lantis-san?" She was still crying a bit, but the
pixie amused her, so she was beginning to calm down, though she still acted
nervously around Lantis.
"She is a pixie I saved from some monsters, her name is Primera. She is just
a bit over zealous and overly jealous." Lantis laughed at his own remark.
"I'm laughing, I'm actually laughing." He thought in amazement. The pixie
continued to tell the girl off, until Lantis thought the girl was getting
yelled at too much. Perhaps not stopping the pixie sooner was punishment
enough. He finally decided to stop her.
"That's enough Primera!" Primera looks sadly at Lantis.
"But Lantis, I can't let her steal you from me. She looks to be a bit
crafty." She said as she eyed Hikaru a bit suspiciously.
"Don't worry little pixie, I'll do no harm." Hikaru said warmly. Hikaru felt
less nervous, and was glad about Lantis'es apparent change of heart. She
decided to take his word and dispel him as any kind of threat. That's just how
Innocent Hikaru is.
"I guess I'd better go, I need to talk to Clef and the other girls." Hikaru
said as she left Lantis's side. She felt a warm connection to him now. His
kindness and forgiving nature made her think highly of him, and being next to
her made her feel warm inside. 'Could I have a crush on him?' she thought as
she walked down the corridor towards her next destination within the giant
tower.
Now, looking back on the events that unfolded before him, Lantis thought a
lot more. Staring out into the cloud filled nothingness that stretched before
him, he contemplated on his anger. True, he said he wasn't angry about his
brother's death, but what could he say to a small pleading girl that was
roughly half his size? She was totally defenseless to him, offering herself to
him in any way imaginable, although he never thought of doing anything
dishonorable. Also, none of the Magic Knights were truly responsible for
Zagato's death, and yet he wanted to be angry at someone. Clef did allow this
to happen, but it was beyond his control, as well as the princesses. Zagato
was driven by love, as many lovelorn fools before him have, and was hardly
culpable. How could Lantis get rid of these tensions? The ragged warrior only
sought to end his misery, and suddenly his thoughts delved into a dark area
that made him think more and more on how useless his life was. Suicide was
quickly becoming the best answer to his never ending question.
"I have to end this miserable existence." Lantis thought to himself, as he
drew a small blade from his belt.
"I may as well just die, no one would even miss me." He added, wallowing in
his own pathetic self-pity, like many of us have. Just as he was about to
bring his blade down on himself, a knock came to the door.
"Lantis...could I um....speak...to..you in the uh...garden?" sounded a small
familiar voice from behind the door. Hikaru had finally gotten the courage to
ask Lantis to do something, even as minor as a talk in the garden, but it was
a start. Her feelings were growing more and more for him, mostly because he
had provided her with peace of mind, something she would thank him for. She
felt at peace with herself at last, because of this kind, pleasant, almost
loving man.
"Maybe later....." Lantis said almost snidely. He was at his wits end, and
couldn't imagine anyone talking to him other than for the reason of getting
any information about then Autosamian invaders, or any valuable tidbits of
information that concerned the salvation of Cefiro. He was tired of it, and
wanted only to end his suffering. It sounded selfish to him, yet he didn't
really care. He was through with pleasing others.
"Oh, I see, I'm sorry I wasted your time, Clef wanted to speak to you about
some invaders or something." Hikaru felt wretched at the rejection, and the
usual enthusiasm in her voice was gone. The very man who had helped her out of
a very straining mental problem refused her a little bit of happiness.
'Rightfully', she then thought.
"I'm sorry to have wasted your time." She said morosely. Lantis noticed this
and started to see that he was being too selfish. Somehow this girl brought
him out of his remorse.
"Come in, please, I'm sorry if I offended you." He kept wondering how this
girl made him so emotionally positive. He later concluded that she must have
that effect on most people.
"Oh, do you want to talk about something?" Hikaru was partially happy at his
invitation, but her emotions weren't entirely changed in light of Lantis's
apparent state of woe. She felt the ever present need to bring cheer, and
forgot all about her pain from rejection. She was now just a picture of
motivation, being her usual bouncy self as she walked into the room and smiled
warmly at Lantis, forgetting her shy inhibitions. She had a job to do.
"Sit please. Is there something you need to talk about? The invasion
perhaps?" He winced at his last words, looking as morose as ever.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing Lantis, you haven't been around as
much, everyone is worried." Hikaru saw his sad state, and became increasingly
worried for Lantis.
"Its nothing." said Lantis, putting no effort into his words, betraying them
as he spoke. Lantis didn't believe that anyone worried for him. He was the
black sheep that left the flock. He was unwelcome, as far as he saw. No one
dare talk to him on a friendly level, and all avoided contact with this gloomy
newcomer. All except for Hikaru, but she would never think of him as more of a
friend, he was sure. Lantis thought of himself as far too distant to develop
any kind of lasting friendships. It was then that Hikaru saw the knife he had
so carelessly left on the table.
"Please Lantis, cheer up, your making me sad." Hikaru said, hugging the tall
man in her arms, giving him a heartfelt embrace. She was worried for Lantis,
because she considered him as a very good friend, and a person she hoped would
be more than that.
"H-Hikaru!?" Lantis was caught in surprise. In all of his self pity he never
thought anyone cared, and here was that same girl that kept defying his every
thought. His heart melted as he saw Hikaru hugging him with all of her might,
which was a lot for a girl her age and height. Lantis felt himself lost in her
embrace; somebody cared for him.
"Please feel better, I don't want you sad Lantis. You've become too important
to me in these past days for me to just let go. I know it's hard for you, its
been hard for me too, but you must go on. Please?" The young knight was on the
verge of tears as she held Lantis tightly. She didn't want her savior to be
lost. She had to repay him somehow.
"Thank you Hikaru, you HAVE cheered me up. I'm glad you came here, because
you have been the only one to show any signs of kindness to me throughout
these hard times. I think I can say that I love you Hikaru." His words came
out without his minds consent as he returned Hikaru's embrace. He then kissed
her on the forehead and released his arms.
"Oh I'm so glad your happy now, I am so very happy, and I'm glad you love me
cause I've loved you too, I've loved you since we talked ad you made me feel
so much better, oh your so special, very special, your my savior!" Hikaru was
anything but at a loss for words. Her emotions seeped out of her bringing her
thoughts to her tongue in a whirlwind of speech.
"I'm glad that your glad Hikaru and-mmpphh!" Lantis's words were interrupted
by a pair of young lips that met his, as the young girl wrapped her arms
around Lantis, bringing him down to her level while giving him a very
passionate kiss. At least as passionate as a 14 year old girl can get.
After all of this, the pair went down to the garden to walk around and enjoy
each others company. They had a very good time, making the both of them lift
each other's spirits. After that, they went to their own rooms feeling so much
better. After that, Lantis slept the best night of sleep he had since before
he heard the news, or perhaps better. Someone loved him!
Authors Rant(literally):
ok so maybe it sucked maybe it didn't. I wrote part of this at 3:00 in the
morning because of something bad that happened to me and it affected my
writing, I dunno if it was good or bad, and then I wrote the rest later on,
like a few months later, and some of it reflects the emotional healing I've
gone through, but later on I'm gonna go on with my original plans to revive
the true purpose of this story, and make this the first darkfic I've ever
written, and the second fanfic I've written, but I thinks its going along good
then again I always think something is going good then it turns out to suck
*GASP!* anyway, send comments, PLEASE! I hope you enjoyed.
