Chapter 16: Tragedies
Koumokuten is gone, but that doesn't surprise Bishamonten.
Bishamonten's gaze falls on Kisshouten, his wife...
Ashura winces as she regains control of herself, standing with one
hand covering her wounded shoulder. Crimson blood streamed down her limp
arm, her golden eyes blazing. Susan remained in her normal posture,
waiting, watching. Yasha-ou gets onto his feet and stands there in the
hesitation of a battle. Silence fell around as a pair of golden eyes met
ruby ones in a destructive guesture.
Hiyana gazed around herself. Much destruction had befallen the once
beautiful Zenmijou. She spotted Susan.
"Where... where am I?" Deep in Susan's mind where the Dark part of
her hadn't conquered, good still existed.
"Who... am I?", she asks. Her echo was the only reply.
A figure stepped forward from the misty surrounding, a woman. She
has a soft and warm expression on her face and Susan feels like she's known
this woman for a long time...
"Am I... you?", she asks as she closes her eyes.
Kendappa-Ou moves towards Sohma, walking steadily, her gait even and
graceful. She holds out her sword, positioning her attack. Sohma grips
onto her moonrangs, knowing what she had to do. Kendappa-Ou charged at
Sohma at full speed. The was a loud clang followed by an explosion of
sparks that sent the ground glittering. Then there was the sound of metal
slicing through flesh. Everything happened so fast. Sohma dropped to her
knees, blood spilling from her wounds. Kendappa-Ou bent down to Sohma's
height, taking Sohma into her arms.
"You can't beat Taishakuten...", she whispers. Kendappa-Ou takes
Sohma's hand which is still holding onto a moonrang and puts it to her
throat. Sohma's eyes widen as Kendappa-Ou jerks the moonrang into her neck,
blood bursting into the air. As a bloody Kendappa-Ou falls over Sohma's
dying body, she whispers her last words.
"I love you..."
"Waga kimi!!!", Sohma cries out. She turns over, Kendappa-Ou's
sword still embedded within her. With a last desperate effort, Sohma tries
to pull out the sword so that her blood, a gift of immortality, could be
given to the one she loved, Kendappa-Ou...
Susan intervenes.
Before Sohma could accomplish this last dying act, Susan lands
before Sohma. Expressionless eyes met desperate ones as they locked gazes.
It was the end, Sohma knew, as Kamui shot an energy bolt at Sohma. There
was a slight pain as it first peirced Sohma's skin, breaking it. It passed
through her, and collided to the floor, vaporizing the marble floor a bit.
Sohma fell face down over Kendappa-Ou. Yasha-Ou stood still, unable to
grasp what had just happened. Taishakuten just smirked, their plan was
going quite better than he expected since Susan was a lot stronger than
before. But he hadn't quite figured out why her moods had changed...
"Ryu-Ou, get out of this place!", Hiyana whispered. Ryu-Ou shook
his head.
"There's no way I'm running away...", he snapped. As Ryu-Ou stood
up, a hand gripped his shoulder. It was Zouchouten.
"Don't waste your life on something you can't control.", he warned.
"But Yasha--", Ryu-Ou began.
"Yasha-Ou can't do anything. This is the Susan we know, didn't you
see that? She has an ominous aspect about her.", Hiyana interrupted.
Ryu-Ou hesitated.
"What?", he asked.
"Kamui's part mazoku... A very special, very rare mazoku.", she
answered quietly. Silence settled around the battle ground again. The
unexpected news slammed into Ryu-Ou and Zouchouten.
"What kind of mazoku... has red eyes?", Zouchouten asked, questions
filling his mind.
A sudden attack broke the silence and was blocked by Susan as it was
aimed for Yasha-Ou. She couldn't care less about what happened to Yasha-Ou,
but Bishamonten was attacking her also when he attacked Yasha-Ou, for the
blast of ki had to be blocked by whoever was in range.
"Plasma Typhoon!", Susan shouted. The wind suddenly picked up
rapidly, swirling and smashing the already crumbling walls. Red lightning
swirved around where Susan stood, building her ki. She swung our her arm,
hurling the typhoon-like lighting. It smashed into everything in it's path,
crushing and destroying.
"Bishamonten!", Kisshouten cried out as the typhoon slammed into her
husband. Bishamonten still stood after the attack went through him. But
the expression on his face was sad and the color slowly drained from his
face. He fell backwards onto the torn up floor like it was slow motion.
Kisshouten bolted over to him, tears rimming her beautiful eyes. The life
had drained from his eyes as Kisshouten held his body in her embrace. She
softly murmured something, but it was lost in the receding wind.
Taishakuten walked over to Kisshouten.
"I have kept you alive for Bishamonten only...", he says coldly and
thrusts his long sword into her chest, shattering her necklace. She jerks
up, blood spilling everywhere on the floor, on her clothes. Kisshouten
chokes on her own blood.
"Kisshouten!!", Yasha-Ou shouts. Susan only stares at Kisshouten's
corpse.
"S...Susan...", Kisshouten whispers unevenly. Peices of her
necklace clatters to the floor.
"Finish her.", Susan commands. Taishakuten grins and slices
Kisshouten in half before she can utter another word. She dies instantly,
her body falls onto Bishamonten's, covered in a blanket of blood. Susan
closes her eyes, a smile spreading on her lips. Taishakuten looks pleased
as he stands nearby, calm.
Ryu-Ou and Hiyana watch the horrible events from afar. Silence had
befallen the remaining seven. The castle was totally destroyed. Hiyana
never knew the storyline of RG Veda would be this tragic. How could she
have known? But she noticed something odd... "Where in hell did Susan and
herself fit in the storyline?!" They didn't! Unless... Hiyana didnt'
think it was possible, her hand trembled.
"I... don't belong here...", Susan said to the figure standing
before her. It's face was serious...her face.
"This part of you which is human is now asleep within the recesses
of your body's mind. The evil part of you, the one that's awake, is causing
massive destruction in the RG Veda storyline. You are part of that
storyline. You have to awaken...", said the form.
"But... Mother said I was descended from an Esper...", Susan argued
softly.
The figure's face relaxed.
"Susan, in the future, do mazoku's exist any longer?", she asked.
Kamui shook her head.
"Then it is time you opened your mind to your past. You have tried
to forget it unconsciously, but you cannot hide it. You and I, we are the
same, so is the dark side. We are all aspects of the same person. You and
Hiyana are the last of a race of divine demons. You have the ability to
grant eternal life... You are, a Sanjiyan...", she explained.
Sanjiyan... the word sounded familiar, so warm... it came as a
ringing of a bell in her ear.
"Sanjiyan...", Susan closed her eyes.
Susan smashed through the wall, keeping in range of Taishakuten. It
seemed like she was protecting him. Ashura jumped into the sky, trying to
get in close enough to Taishakuten. Susan was harder than she thought.
"You're tough... but you won't stop my destruction.", said Ashura.
"You're a big talker...", said Susan, her words laced with barbs.
She flung her energy blade at Ashura, trying to keep her at bay.
"Kaja! Hai Ryu Ha!!", shouted Ryu-Ou as he slammed Ryugato to the
floor. Waves in the shapes of dragons slammed into Taishakuten's kekkai.
Unimpressed, he chuckled.
"Do you think you can beat me with that?", he asked.
"Just shut up!! We're here to kill you, so just die quietly!",
Ryu-Ou snapped.
Taishakuten smiled in mockery. "You, king of Ryu-Ou clan, are of no
importance to me."
Ryu-Ou's eyes widened as Taishakuten's sword skewers him. He feels
pain shoot throughout his body, paralyzing him. His vision begins to blur
and darken. His head spins and he feels exhausted suddenly. In Ryu-Ou's
fading vision, he sees himself promising to smile for Ashura forever. But
now he knows he can never keep that promise. Taishakuten holds his sword
downright, letting Ryu-Ou's dying body slide off his sword, the thick dark
blood left behind stained the blade. Darkness fell and filled Ryu-Ou's vision.
"Heh, he was a waste!", said Taishakuten, smiling proudly.
Angry, Yasha-Ou built up his ki. Taishakuten turned to him, feeling
his powerful ki. Susan, without hesitation, leaped right at Yasha-Ou. The
ground exploded as her energy blade scraped against Yamato. Susan leaped
away, wanting to play with her prey more. Balls of fire surrounded Ashura.
She flung them at Susan and whoever was in the way, she didn't care. The
floor trembled under the waves of attacks. Hiyana and Zouchouten jumped out
of the way.
The rising smoke from the unstable floor seemed gasy. A loud boom
sounded and the smoke cleared as if there was a giant fan blowing them away.
The smoke spread away from Susan like a flowing cape, her ki build-up
causing a disturbance in the air. Her red eyes ablaze.
Deep in Susan's mind, she heard a ringing. The spiritual form smiled.
"That's your cue.", she said.
"Wha--?", Susan asked.
"Change destiny, Susan, you have the power to do it. Save the world
and keep yourself--", the words were cut off as Kamui blacked out.
To be continued...
Author's ramblings...
I really think I rushed most of the character's deaths... But um,
anyway, I decided to change a couple things so that it would blend into the
sequel... (Yeah, that means there WILL be a sequel) If you're confused,
don't worry, you're not alone. Hopefully, everything will be explained in
the sequel. Any comments/flames/suggestions welcome.
note: This is my last month with this address: ashura@future.net : and next
month, my brother will be getting on AOL instead, so until then, I wonder if
I can just send my fanfics to someone so they can post it for me, or
whatever. Thanks for reading.
