Chapter 2: Within the Walls of Zenmi Castle
Susan and Hiyana gazed at Zenmi-jou.
"I dunno... I mean, the people in RG Veda are pretty mad, but
considering it's you I'm talking to, it's your basic love, hate, and
betrayal thing.", Susan joked.
"Do not joke, Susan. Not right now.", Hiyana muttered.
"Okay, okay... I've been watching a lot of sci-fi, and it seems that
we've been transported here...", Susan speculated.
"Right, and I'm Santa Clause.", Hiyana joked.
"Fine, don't say I didn't warn you.", Susan mumbled.
Susan turned away from Hiyana and surveyed the kingdom and
enviroment around her. It seemed all right, nothing badly damaged as in the
OAVs. Then she thought about meeting Ashura-ou, unless he was already dead,
and all those good-looking men...
"Hiyana, what would you do if I...", Susan faded.
"Uh, Susan, I think I'd turn around if I were you...", Hiyana said
slowly.
Susan turned around. There stood four guards, and two of them had
Hiyana hostage. Susan held her ground, not knowing what to do.
"Susan, DO something...", said Hiyana, irritated.
"This isn't something I face everyday, Hiyana...", said Susan.
"You two, come with us.", said one of the soldiers.
Susan was shocked, she could understand what they were saying!
"Where to?", she asked.
"Zenmi Castle, we'll see what the Emperor will do to spies.",
replied another guard.
"... looks like we've got no other choice...", Susan whispered.
The guards led Susan and Hiyana to the castle. As they got nearer
and nearer, the castle seemed to loom higher and higher. Susan could hardly
grasp what was happening, what she was seeing. They crossed the land
bridges that connected to Zenmi Castle. Susan remembered the reflection of
Zenmi Castle in the water that was really Ashura Castle.
"Look Hiyana, at the reflection of Zenmi Castle.", said Susan.
"Hm? It's just a reflection.", she answered.
"Look deeper.", said Susan.
"I still don't see anything.", Hiyana answered.
Susan smirked.
"Forget it.", said Susan.
The guards opened the palace doors and led them in. Inside, Susan
and Hiyana gaped at the beauty of Zemni Castle. It was bigger than Susan
ever thought, and even more surprising for Hiyana.
"Great special effects, Susan.", said Hiyana.
"What?", whispered Susan.
Then they entered the main audience hall and was in the presence of
the Emperor. Susan recognized him immediately.
"It's not Taishakuten!", Susan sighed.
"Taishakuten? Where?", asked Hiyana.
"Shh.", said Susan.
They were brought before the Emperor.
"What is this?", asked the Emperor.
"We saw these two spying suspiciously.", answered one of the guards.
"What?! We were not!", said Hiyana.
"Silence.", said one of the guards.
"Were you spying?", asked the Emperor.
"No, we weren't. We're just a little lost.", Susan replied.
"Lost? Where are you from?", he asked.
"Well, it's a bit complicated to explain.", answered Susan.
The Emperor stared at us suspiciously.
"We're innocent. We've done nothing wrong.", Susan continued.
"How can you prove it?", asked one of the guards.
"... take our clothes for example, ever seen anyone dress like
this?", asked Hiyana.
"That doesn't prove anything.", said the Emperor.
Susan quickly looked for a way out. Just then, Kuyou strolled into
the room. Susan had an idea.
"Wait, since Kuyou can predict the future, why don't we ask her?",
Susan suggested.
The Emperor looked at Kuyou.
"Kuyou, can you help?", he asked.
Kuyou was surprised the stranger knew her, but she nodded. She
closed her eyes, as she tried to see if we were innocent or guilty. Then
she opened her eyes.
"I don't see anything... except the fact that they are telling the
truth...", said Kuyou.
Susan smiled.
"See?", said Hiyana.
The guards still held on to both their arms, not trustful of them.
"Let them go.", said the Emperor.
"But--", said one guard.
"You heard him.", said Susan.
"I don't trust these two.", said another guard.
Anger surged through Hiyana. Susan noticed and stepped back.
"Uh, you boys had better let her go... she's going to be very mad.",
Susan warned quickly.
"Heh, what can she do?", one of the guards taunted.
The Emperor watched in amusement. Susan turned around and sighed.
"Don't say I didn't warn you...", said Susan.
"What a laugh.", said the other guard.
Hiyana past her boiling point.
"Let GO of me!", she yelled.
Hiyana smashed one of the guards in the face and whirled around to
footsweep the other. They both fell to the ground, groaning in pain. Susan
sighed and went to Hiyana. She patted Hiyana on the shoulder, calming her.
"That's Hiyana all right.", said Susan.
"So you weren't lying after all.", said Hiyana.
"What?", asked Susan.
"This really IS reality...", Hiyana said.
"Well, duh! Did it take you this long to figure it out?!", asked Susan.
"I thought you were just joking.", Hiyana answered.
Susan gave a long sigh, her head hanging down.
"When are you going to learn... that this is for REAL?!", Susan
asked, annoyed.
Then they turned to the Emperor.
"Say, where's Ashura-ou?", Susan asked.
"Ashura-ou?", Kuyou repeated.
Susan remembered that Kuyou seemed to be in love with Ashura-ou. So
she skipped the question.
"Um, never mind.", Susan said quickly.
"I'd like the both of you as my guests until you find your way back
to where ever you came from, is that all right with you?", Kuyou asked.
Susan and Hiyana looked at eachother. They smiled.
"Sure, we'd love to stay as your guests.", said Hiyana.
"Yes, it would be rude to refuse.", Susan added.
Susan saw Kuyou smile for the first time.
"Then it is settled. Kuyou, these two are in your hands.", said the
Emperor.
Kuyou nodded.
"All right!", Susan and Hiyana shouted as they slapped a five in the
air.
To be continued...
Well that's this time's installment. Sorry if it seemed a little
short, I might write some more later on today. See ya!
