Chapter 3: Dangerous Ambitions and the Secret Power Within
Susan and Hiyana sat on the floor in the outdoor balcony, discussing
possible ways to return home. It had become dark outside and they grew more
restless.
"So how the heck is this gonna work?", asked Susan.
"... uh, I dunno. I think the portal'll just appear again sooner or
later, so all we have to do is wait.", Hiyana explained.
Susan sighed. She never knew she could miss her home so much, but
then again, she'd rather live in her favorite anime universe.
"The stars shine just as bright as the ones we see at home...", said
Hiyana, gazing at the stars that appeared already.
"Yeah.", Susan agreed.
In the distance, the sky was a mixture of purple and blue. There
were occasional calls of birds and the world began to sleep. Susan was
still wide awake, and curious. Hiyana had been quiet, too quiet.
"Hiyana, what are you thinking about?", Susan asked.
"Hm? Oh, I was just thinking about why we didn't get teleported to
the world of Fatal Fury so I could be Joe's girl, he never gets the girl so
I pity him...", Hiyana said dreamily.
Susan smirked.
"Is that the only thing you can think of at a time like this?!",
Susan asked stupidly.
Hiyana nodded. Instead of smacking her, Susan got up on her feet
and looked out to the city.
"I'm going out there tomorrow... it would be so cool...", Susan said
to herself.
"Well, I'm gonna go find Kuyou. Coming?", asked Hiyana as she stood
up and stretched.
"I'll come in a bit.", Susan answered, not looking away.
"Whatever you say.", said Hiyana as she turned to leave.
Susan was left on the balcony alone, silently half-mourning and
half-thanking.
Hiyana turned down the corridor and headed towards the audience
hall. She had a feeling she'd find Kuyou there. She entered the audience
hall and found no one there.
"Hey, where'd all the people go?", she asked herself.
"What are you doing here?", asked a voice.
Hiyana turned around and faced a tall man with long straight black
hair and golden eyes. Hiyana recognized him immediately, but she couldn't
remember his name.
"I-I was just looking for Kuyou.", she answered.
"Kuyou? I've never seen you before here, who are you?", the man asked.
Hiyana silently called for Susan through her mind, not knowing if it
would reach her or not.
"My name is Hiyana, I just arrived today as one of Kuyou's guests.",
Hiyana answered.
The man stared at her suspiciously.
Susan was just about to fall asleep when she felt a chill. An image
of Hiyana entered her mind suddenly and she wondered who was playing with
her head. But, instead of ignoring it, she got up to look for Hiyana,
knowing that she always got into trouble.
"You're not from around here...", said the man.
"...heh, that's right.", Hiyana said.
Hiyana took a step back, a little frightened. Just then, a hand
grabbed her shoulder and Hiyana jumped. She turned around to find Susan
smiling at her.
"Scared?", Susan asked.
Hiyana straightened herself.
"Scared? I'm not really scared of anything at all.", she replied
calmly.
"Yeah, whatever.", said Susan.
Then Susan looked up to see the man and her face lit up.
"So you finally met Ashura-ou.", said Susan, trying not to look
directly at his pretty eyes.
"Ashura-ou? Where?", asked Hiyana.
Susan took Hiyana's head with both her hands and positioned them so
Hiyana stared directly at the man she had been talking to.
"Uh, this is Ashura-ou? Hm, not what I expected...", said Hiyana.
"How do you know my name?", Ashura-ou asked.
Susan smiled.
"Oh, let's just say it was an educated guess...", Susan replied.
"He's much better looking this way than the picture you showed me.",
Hiyana whispered.
"Shh!", Susan snapped.
"What is your name?", Ashura-ou asked.
"My name is Susan.", she introduced.
"Actually, he's REALLY cute, just like you said he'd be.", Hiyana
said aloud.
Susan grabbed Hiyana's arm and dragged her a bit away.
"Listen stupid, do you want to be hospitalized?", Susan threatened.
Hiyana laughed.
"Look, I was just noticing how you wouldn't look at him directly,
Susan. No harm done. So chill, I'll quit.", said Hiyana.
"Susan, Hiyana, there you two are. Oh, Ashura-ou, I see you've met
my two guests.", said Kuyou as she came down the stairs.
"Hey, Kuyou. We were just looking for you.", said Hiyana.
"Oh? What is it?", she asked.
"Uh, well, what Hiyana wanted to say was that we need to go
somewhere tomorrow, and we were wondering if it was okay with you.", Susan said.
"Tomorrow? Where are you going?", asked Ashura-ou.
Kuyou came to us.
"We just need some open space, just for a while.", said Hiyana.
"Is there anything you need?", Kuyou asked.
Susan and Hiyana looked at eachother, then at Kuyou and Ashura-ou.
"Well, we could use some long thin cloth.", said Susan.
"Is it okay if we come to watch? You can use the large space by the
gates, near where the soldiers practice.", Kuyou offered.
"That's fine. We'll start tomorrow morning.", Susan and Hiyana said
happily.
"Um, Ashura-ou, where's Shashi?", Susan asked out of curiousity.
"...She should be around the castle, why?", he asked.
"Oh, nothing. I was just wondering.", Susan answered.
"Susan, it's strange, you know us, but we don't really know you...",
said Kuyou.
Susan hesitated.
"We should keep it that way, at least for now.", Susan answered.
"Well! I'm pooped, I'm going to bed.", Hiyana said loudly.
Susan turned around to follow, leaving Kuyou and Ashura-ou behind.
"Kuyou...", said Ashura-ou.
"It's not right for us to be meeting like this.", said Kuyou as she
left.
The next morning.
Susan yawned, and jumped out of bed. She washed up in a nearby bowl
of water and put on her hightops. She tied her hair and ran out of the
room. She went next door and rapped on Hiyana's door. No one answered.
"Hiyana?!", Susan called.
No answer. Then Susan walked downstairs, panicky about where Hiyana
was. She entered the main audience hall.
"Good morning, Tentei!", Susan said quickly as she opened the front
doors and ran outside.
Outside, Hiyana was sitting on the ground.
"There you are, I thought you'd never wake up.", said Hiyana.
"Quit the lecturing... let's begin our practice.", said Susan.
Hiyana stood up and patted her shorts, letting the dust fall.
"Where's Kuyou and Ashura-ou?", Susan asked.
"I don't-- There they are.", Hiyana pointed them out.
Susan turned around to see Kuyou and Ashura-ou gliding towards them.
Kuyou had in her hand, some long thin cloth, just what they had requested.
Kuyou came over to them and handed Susan the cloths.
"Here you go.", she said.
"Thanks Kuyou.", said Susan and Hiyana.
There were four peices of long thin cloth, Susan handed Hiyana two
peices. Then Susan wrapped the first cloth around her palm, leaving the
fingers free. She did the same to her other hand. Hiyana finished too.
"What are you going to do?", Ashura-ou asked.
"Just practice.", Hiyana answered.
"Get ready, Hiyana!", said Susan as she ran at Hiyana.
"Whoa!", Hiyana almost shrieked as she dodged Susan's jump-kick.
Susan landed softly and turned around. Hiyana came into close
contact and swung her arm at Susan, Susan blocked it and tripped her.
Hiyana fell backwards on her back, then she flipped herself back up. Kuyou
and Ashura-ou stepped back, astonished at their speed and ability. Hiyana
kicked repeatedly at Susan while Susan dodged them all. Then Susan
backflipped away, Hiyana was left behind.
"Come back here!", Hiyana yelled.
"Ha, ha... catch me if you can!", Susan called back.
Hiyana chased after Susan. They soon reached a dead end. Hiyana
smiled triumphantly. Up ahead, Susan figured out what to do. She reached
the wall.
"I've got you now!", yelled Hiyana.
To her surprise, Susan braced her foot on the wall and leaped over
Hiyana. Hiyana stopped and ran after Susan, the other way. Susan was
getting tired in this heat, she decided it was time to stop running. She
stopped and turned around, Hiyana was still trying to close the gap between
her and Susan. Then Susan built up her ki. Hiyana and Susan had been
taught martial arts at an early age, and it had proven very helpful.
Strangely, they learned many techniques quickly, unlike the others. Their
parents hardly ever spoke of their ancestors too. Their parents just said
they had inherited the Solar Stance, whatever that was, and that was why
they weren't easily injured and could learn quickly.
"Rekkuzan!", Susan shouted.
A burst of light in the form of a ki blast shot out from Susan's
hand, heading right for Hiyana.
"Goriki Tenbu!", Hiyana countered.
A ki blast emerged from Hiyana and the two attacks smashed into
eachother, exploding into tiny fragments of lights that fell to the ground,
vanishing like fire embers. Susan had followed her ki blast in, she jumped
over the smoke, catching an off-guard Hiyana.
"Flaming Crescent!", Susan yelled.
Susan posed her glowing fist down, about to striking Hiyana. Hiyana
seeing Susan's attack, countered quickly by rolling out of the way. The
ground exploded where Susan had missed, she coughed, running out of the dust
to continue the practice. Hiyana was ready this time, so she flipped away,
posing a battle stance.
"Venus... Crescent... Beam!", Hiyana imitated Sailor Venus.
"Shippu Tsuki!", Susan shouted.
A beam of yellow light blasted from Hiyana's finger, but Susan's
attack countered it with a bright flash of light, vaporizing the beam.
Susan and Hiyana sagged, out of breath. They fell to the ground, exhausted
and laughing all the while.
"You're getting better, Hiyana.", Susan complimented.
"I'd say the same about you.", Hiyana returned.
Then they sat up, taking deep breaths. Kuyou walked over to them,
very astonished.
"You have so much power...", she gasped.
Susan looked at Hiyana, then at Kuyou.
"Well, a-heh...", Susan didn't know what to say.
"I bet you could help defend Tenkai against the demon tribes...",
Kuyou continued.
"D-demon tribes?", Hiyana perked up.
Kuyou nodded.
"Sometimes they break through the kekkai and attack. You could be a
big help.", Kuyou explained.
Farther away, Ashura-ou was still staring at the two young women who
had just 'practiced'. He was amazed at their powers. Then someone came to
stand by him. Ashura-ou looked to the side and saw Taishakuten.
"What's all the noise?", he asked.
"They were practicing.", Ashura-ou answered, pointing to Susan and
Hiyana who were still in deep conversation with Kuyou.
Taishakuten eyed them. He had never seen them before but word had
got around that there were two guests of Kuyou that were staying at Zenmi
Castle. He suspected the two to be the ones.
"So will you help?", Kuyou asked.
"Well, fighting demons is something we've never done...", Hiyana
went on.
"Sure, we'll help if we can.", Susan broke in.
"Oh, thank you. I have to go see the emperor now.", said Kuyou.
Kuyou turned and walked back. When she was gone, Hiyana elbowed Susan.
"You idiot! We don't know how to fight demons!", she scolded.
Susan recovered quickly.
"We don't know unless we try! Besides, I don't want to stand around
while the others have fun.", Susan made her point.
Hiyana sighed, the truth was she was really scared of demons. But
she'd rather not confess.
"Hm, those two seem very skilled... I should make them work for me
when I become queen... I could rule Tenkai with those two as my
protectors... I could become Empress.", Shashi said to herself.
She walked away from the high balcony where she had been watching
and disappeared.
To be continued...
Dang that was long!!!! I have a headach now... But I did kinda let
my imagination run huh? Well, if you're reading this now, I assume that you
read the above story, congatulations. I know some of the parts may seem
*lame*, like the part where I used Sailor Venus's "cresent moon beam"
attack, but I liked the sailor senshi's attacks and you might see more later
on... As always, comments AND suggestions are welcome. I'll try not to put
so much detail next time if told so.
