Hi again! Dang, if you're this far with my story, you must like it. Well,
I appreciate it anyway. Enjoy! BTW, thanks to everyone who helped answer
my RGV questions, it helped a lot. Besides, I don't think there are any
RGVeda manga up here in Minnesota... (still sobbing...)

Chapter 4: The Many Possibilities
Susan sat on the porch just outside the palace doors. She was
enjoying the nice warm climate, something that never stayed too long in
Minnesota. She laughed at Hiyana, who was walking back and forth,
frustrated about something.
"Just think of it, Hiyana, Mamano Hunter Susan!", she said
sarcastically.
Hiyana stopped and looked at Susan as if Susan was a mental patient.
"Just be glad we're not in that world.", she retorted.
"Yeah, yeah... so why are you so jumpy all of a sudden?", Susan asked.
Hiyana didn't answer, she just continued babbling to herself
quietly. Susan eyed her and looked at the soldiers, practicing.
"Ugh, look, their swings are kinda choppy...", Susan complained.
"Look, let's change our minds about doing this "protect the palace"
thing.", Hiyana said nervously.
Susan noticed Hiyana's nervousness and anxiety.
"Don't tell me you're afraid...", Susan asked.
"I'm not!", she snapped.
"Don't have a cow, Hiyana.", Susan mumbled.
"Look, I just don't think we can do this kind of thing.", Hiyana said.
"And what makes you think that?", Susan asked.
"...I don't know, I just have--", Hiyana stopped, something else
distracting her gaze.
Susan looked where she was looking and jumped up. She was shocked.
"W-who's that, Susan?", Hiyana whispered.
"It's... Yasha-ou and that looks like his dad...", Susan replied.
"...what a babe...", Hiyana whispered.
Susan smirked and whacked her over the head.
"Shame on you, he's mine.", Susan reminded her.
"Yasha-ou, you brought your son, Yama.", said Kuyou as she came
outside to meet them.
"Kuyou, how are you?", asked Yasha-ou.
Kuyou nodded and smiled. Yama was as tall as his father now, strong
and handsome. Many women liked Yama, though he's just a teenager.
"I hear you had guests here.", said Yasha-ou.
"Yes, they should be around here somewhere...", said Kuyou.
"Oh man, I almost forgot. I wanted to go to the city today... well,
now's my chance...", said Susan, smirking.
"You're going where?", asked Hiyana.
"The city.", Susan answered.
"I wanna come too.", said Hiyana.
"Let's go then!", said Susan.
They started walking towards the castle gates, nervous. Susan's
heart beat faster and faster as she got closer and closer to Kuyou and the
two others.
"Oh, where are the two of you going?", Kuyou asked.
"Ah, heh, well, we thought we'd go take a look around the city...
that is, if it's okay with you.", Susan stumbled.
"Just the two of you?", she asked.
"Uh, yeah.", said Hiyana, covering for Susan.
"Hm. Maybe Yama should go with you.", Kuyou suggested.
Susan's heart almost stopped.
"Ah-heh, no, no... that's okay, we can take care of ourselves, I
mean, we don't need him, I mean... ", Susan stumbled looking around
nervously, "...I mean... *sigh* forget it..."
Hiyana elbowed Susan and Susan glared at Hiyana with killer eyes.
Kuyou sighed.
"Yasha-ou, this is Susan and Hiyana, they are my guests. Susan and
Hiyana, this is Yasha-ou and his son, Yama.", Kuyou introduced.
"Nice to have finally meet you in person...", Hiyana said dreamily.
Yasha-ou and Yama looked at eachother.
"Ah, well, we should be going now... it's been great to finally meet
you too, but um, wegottagetgoingnowcomeonHiyana.", Susan said shakily and
grabbed Hiyana's arm, racing out the gates.
"Odd couple, aren't they?", Yasha-ou asked.
"Don't worry, they'll be back later, let's go inside.", said Kuyou.
Yama stared after the two young women still racing across the
bridge. He smiled to himself and followed his father and Kuyou inside.
"Hiyana, I'll never forgive myself!", Susan said under her breath as
she and Hiyana raced across the bridge.
"You were, um, babbling a bit I admit.", said Hiyana.
"Yeah, and you couldn't even take your eyes off Yama!", Susan
retorted hotly.
They reached the outer gates and slowed to a walk. There were
guards, guarding the gates, and they stared suspiciously at Susan and Hiyana
as they walked by. When Hiyana and Susan reached outside, they decided to
walk around the city, looking at the sights.
"Kuyou, where are your two guests?", asked Tentei.
"You mean Susan and Hiyana, they wanted to go catch the sights so
they went to the city. They said they would be back later.", Kuyou explained.
"Hm. Those two, have you learned anything about them?", Tentei asked.
"They don't seem to mean any harm, actually, they are quite nice.
Ashura-ou and I were watching the two of them practice martial arts this
morning, they are quite incredible. So I asked if they would like to help
fight the demons who breach into Tenkai.", answered Kuyou.
"But, they're just children...", Bishamonten interrupted.
"Don't underestimate them, Bishamonten, I have seen what they are
capable of.", said Kuyou.
"What do you mean?", he asked.
"They seem to possess a great deal of power... from what I've seen,
they are quite capable...", said Ashura-ou.
Tentei was silent for a bit, thinking.
"And, what did they say?", Tentei asked.
"They don't agree, as always...", Kuyou sighed.
"I want to talk to them, tell them to return to the castle.", Tentei
ordered.
Susan and Hiyana walked through the city, curious gazes of people
lingering on them. The city was incredible.
"You know, this place reminds me of the city of Agrabah in
Aladdin.", Susan commented.
"Yeah, I noticed...", said Hiyana.
Just then, a person dressed in black stepped in front of them.
"Excuse me, but the emperor has requested for your return
immediately.", said the man.
"And he sent you?", Hiyana asked.
"Come on Hiyana, we don't want to keep him waiting.", said Susan as
she dragged Hiyana away.
The guards opened the castle doors and Susan dragged Hiyana in,
walking swiftly. She came before the emperor and stopped.
"Okay, this had better be important...", Hiyana said as she pulled
herself away from Susan's grip.
"If it's from him, it's important.", Susan said.
"Susan and Hiyana, you have both been invited to take part in
defeating the demons, do you want to do it?", he asked.
"Oh, so is this what it's all about?", Susan asked.
"Ah, what she meant was we haven't thought about it.", Hiyana said
quickly.
"Wait a minute, we haven't?", Susan asked.
Hiyana kicked her.
"Of course stupid, don't you remember?", Hiyana asked, trying to
convince Susan.
"Uhh, actually--", Susan didn't finish.
"Hey, this AIN'T a field trip, Susan...", Hiyana said.
"Don't you think I KNOW that?! What do I look like? An idiot?",
Susan snapped back.
"Gee, you tell me! This isn't something we can decide on right away
without giving it a second thought, okay?!", said Hiyana.
"...so what's your point?", Susan asked.
Hiyana sighed.
"I know you're afraid of monsters and stuff like that, but think
about it.", said Susan.
"Think about what? The death, the rotting corpses?", Hiyana asked.
"That's not what I MEANT! This is a chance to overcome your fears,
and show who's boss.", said Susan.
The thought penetrated Hiyana's head.
"But what if something goes wrong?", she asked.
"Then that's just too bad, ain't it? We'll just have to rely on our
skills and not our luck, there's no such thing as luck anyway, so who
cares?", Susan said, turning to the emperor.
"Well?", he asked.
"We'll do it. Watch out, demons! Susan of the martial arts school
will teach you a lesson!", Susan said arrogantly.
Hiyana hid her face.
"I don't know her...", she mumbled.
"Great, you'll start your training tomorrow.", said Tentei.
"With who?", Hiyana perked.
"The soldiers.", Bishamonten replied.
"Hah, piece of cake. How hard can that be?", Susan asked, smiling.
"You just HAD to ask, didn't you?", said Hiyana.
"Hold the sword, like this. Then swing it, like this. Now you
try.", said Yama.
He handed the sword to Susan. Hiyana and Susan stared at eachother.
"Okay, like this...", said Susan.
She took hold of the sword and it fell to the ground.
"Damn, it's heavier than it looks...", Susan whispered.
"What was that, Susan? It doesn't seem so easy you said?", Hiyana
mocked.
"Just you wait.", said Susan, glaring at Hiyana.
"Now, Susan, swing the sword at this target for practice.", said Yama.
Susan concentrated on the wooden target in the shape of a deformed
human. She lifted the sword. Then she swung. Hiyana gasped.
"Did I...?", Susan asked, turning.
The target wasn't even scratched. She had missed big time. Susan
put down the sword and stepped away.
"Hah, Psycho... Crusher!", Susan shouted.
The wooden target was crushed instantly without anything touching
it. It was smashed to bits, the wooden splinters falling to the ground.
Susan turned around and sighed.
"That's better. Your turn.", Susan said to Hiyana.
Yama was astounded, he was speechless.
"She... she didn't even touch it...!", he noticed.
"Tsk, tsk...", said Hiyana as she stepped up.
Another wooden target was put in place of the smashed one. Hiyana
built up her ki.
"Hahh... Thunder... Rings!", she yelled.
Hiyana threw her hand, and three white rings sprang from her hand.
They smashed into the target, cutting it into pieces.
"Show off...", Susan mumbled, smiling.
"H-how did you...?", Yama babbled.
"*sigh* Man, I am pooped. Let's go.", said Hiyana.
"'Kay. Um, Yama, see ya later.", said Susan as she left with Hiyana.
"Ashura-ou, are those two the ones?", Taishakuten asked.
Ashura-ou nodded.
Later that night, Susan and Hiyana sat in the dining table, talking.
"Yeah, I guess it's pretty fun here.", said Susan.
"Uh huh, considering you know them all.", said Hiyana.
"Oh Hiyana, you would too if you paid attention to the movie!", said
Susan.
A servant came to serve them.
"Hey, you there, what is your name?", Susan asked.
"My name?", she asked, confused.
Susan nodded.
"I am Malenia.", she answered.
"Malenia... do you know, where Shashi is?", Susan asked.
"Shashi? Ashura-ou's wife?", asked Malenia.
"Yes, her.", said Susan.
"I think I saw her around here a while ago...", Malenia answered.
Susan turned to Hiyana.
"What is it?", she asked.
"I think I know where we are... Shashi hasn't betrayed Ashura-ou
yet... but it could be any day now...", Susan whispered.
"You mean...? God I hate her... How could she betray him...?
Susan, can we change... this story?", asked Hiyana.
Susan perked up.
"Change... the story's future?", Susan whispered.
Hiyana nodded.
To Be Continued...
SIGH, well, that was certainly mind straining, but I've saved the best for
later. Don't worry, somehow, everything will and maybe won't turn out as
planned. I hope I left off at a good-enough point to leave you thirsting
for more. I'm glad you all like my story and the comments and questions are
great. Keep them coming. :)
