Thanks to everyone who sent C+C to me on the Seishirou + Sumeragi "Oops I
did it again" thing, it made me feel better!
This requires quite a bit of explaination. The first story was another one
I wrote before Christmas, and was supposed to be funny, and maybe still is,
but didn't end up getting written that way. It's just. . .weird. . .
The second story is basically what the first one was supposed to be, and is
also. . .weird. ..(note that I was sick at the time), but it's kicked off
this whole Tree-san x Sei-chan x Subaru thing (between me and my friends)
that's gotten really. . .bad. . .
Like my other stuff it's in rough draft, and I like reading C+C, so any sent
is much appreciated. Also like my other stuff, this was another random
e-mail thing to my friends, in this case two e-mails, so the really long
************** is where the next message was, and the reason for the time
skip.

Ballad of a Tree
(or “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic)
At the ruins of the Rainbow bridge, Subaru held tightly to the body of the
Sakurazukamori, and cried.
Far across the city, in Ueno park, the Sakura trembled on their branches,
and rained petals onto the frozen ground. Visitors to the park looked
around in amazement, as a hauntingly beautiful melody began to flow through
the air.
/Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you./
/That is how I know you go on./
As if moving in their own wind, the branches of the Sakura tree seemed to
stretch, trying to reach that far off place across the city.
/Far across the distance and spaces between us/
/You have come to show you go on/
/Near, far, wherever you are,/
/I believe that the heart does go on./
After so many centuries, it could sense life. Now it searched, looking for
that spirit. . .
/Once more, you open the door/
/And you’re here in my heart,/
. . .and found it. . .
/And my heart will go on and on./
. . .and pulled it into itself.
/Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime,/
/And never let go till we’re gone./
/Love was when I loved you, one true time I hold to./
The tree cradled the sleeping spirit of the Sakurazukamori, as the sakura
rained down around it.
/In my life we’ll always go on./
/Near, far, wherever you are,/
/I believe that the heart does go on./
/Once more, you open the door/
/And you’re here in my heart,/
/And my heart will go on and on./
The centuries stretched out before it, bleak and endless. It considered,
then. . .
/You’re here, there’s nothing I fear,/
/And I know that my heart will go on./
Spirits howled as they were released from the tree. Across the city, Subaru
gasped, feeling the presence of his sister’s ghost pass by. All of the
sakura dropped from the tree, as the trunk began to dry up.
/We’ll stay forever this way,/
Deep inside the tree, the Sakurazukamori’s spirit was held close, as tightly
grasped as his body was by the Sumeragi. . .
/You are safe in my heart,/
/And my heart will go on and on./
And the children played in the forever empty branches of the Sakura tree in
Ueno park.

TWO GUYS (one dead)A TREE AND A KARAOKE BAR.
(so I suck at titles, sue me)
(no, don't, jk)
Subaru stood gazing out the window long after Kamui had left the room.
His clothes were still bloodstained from the events of the past few hours.
/His blood./
Subaru touched a trembling finger to a dark red patch on his coat.
/Seishirou-san. . ./
There was only one place to go.
Moments later, the evening breeze flapped the curtains in an empty
room.
****
It didn’t take him very long to find the right place. I mean,
honestly, what had Seishirou thought he was hiding? How many other Sakura
trees were blooming in the summer and had about a three foot deep mat of
fallen Sakura petals? Subaru slogged his way over to the tree and collapsed
against it, sobbing.
“Why, Seishirou? We had just made the plans and everything. And you
had promised you'd show me how to. . . and what it was like to. . .we even
bought the. . .oh, why????”
He wrapped his arms around the trunk of the Sakura tree, crying into
its hard bark. To his surprise, he suddenly felt something. . .big. . .wrap
around his back and numerous drops of something land on his head. It was. .
.sap. . .
*sniff* I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL *drip drip drip* HE WORKED SO HARD, HE WAS
GONNA HAVE ME MOVED TO A SUNNIER PART OF THE PARK, ITS ALWAYS SO DARK HERE,
REMEMBER IN TOKYO BABYLON? SEVEN TANKOUBAN, DAMMIT, SEVEN TANKOUBAN AND IT
WAS ALWAYS SO SHADY! BUT HE KEPT TRYING, HE WAS ALWAYS SO WONDERFUL!!!
“But- but you knew him for practically his whole life, and I only had a
year with him, then he had to – to- !”
The branch on his back patted him consolingly.
SHHHH, SHHHH, HUSH, I KNOW, WE BOTH MISS HIM, COME ON, I KNOW A GREAT
KARAOKE BAR, MY TREAT, DON’T YOU WORRY, LET’S TALK ABOUT IT.
****
Most bartenders worldwide learn early on the very good sense of when to
ask and when not to. Unfortunately, this one hadn’t.
“Wha –What the hell?!!! Dammit, what the hell is that tree doing in my
bar!!”
Subaru, eyes glittering dangerously from a very bad combination of
grief, exhaustion, and general frustration with a world that wouldn’t accept
extra-biological kingdom friendships, reached forward and grabbed the man by
the starched collar of his shirt.
“Listen. If you don’t bring two Scotches over here in the next twenty
seconds, my friend here is going to EAT you.”
The Tree rustled its flowers at him menacingly.
****
Five hours and a shelf of liquor later. . .
HE WASN’T LIKE THOSE OTHER ANIME-STYLE VILLIANS, WHO JUST use THE
INANIMATE OBJECTS, HE REALLY CARED! OH, AND THE WAY HE USED TO STROKE MY
TRUNK. . .
If it was possible, the Sakura petals turned redder.
“Wooooo-hooooo! Was that a blush I saw?! It was, it was, wasn’t it!?
You liked him, didn’t you?!!!”
OH, NO, NO NOT AT ALL. . .
“Oh come on come on come on. Don’t keep secrets from you’re friends.
I know you did I know you diiiiii iiiiiiid!”
WEEEELLLLLLLL. . .
The Tree nervously knocked over one of its glasses of scotch, which
shattered on the floor. Subaru, watching it, suddenly sighed.
“Besides, he probably liked you better anyway.”
WHAT?
Suddenly morose, Subaru shuffled the glass shards around with his foot.
“I mean, he never cared about me, he even told me so, but he was always
with you, taking care of you, feeding you, touching you. . . Do you know
how many times I saw him with you and I’d think ‘God, I wish I was that
tree’. Or he’d leave in the middle of the night and I’d just know, I’d just
KNOW that he was going to see you?”
NO, YOU HAVE IT ALL WRONG. I – I WAS ALWAYS JEALOUS OF YOU.
“Jealous? Of me? Why?”
YOU REALLY DON’T KNOW?
“What?”
EVERYDAY WHEN HE CAME TO SEE ME, IT WAS ALWAYS ‘SUBARU-KUN THIS’ AND
‘SUBARU-KUN THAT’ OR ‘OH, SUBARU-KUN IS SO CUTE’. SURE, HE MAY HAVE BEEN
WITH ME, BUT HE WAS ALWAYS THINKING OF YOU.
“Really?”
REALLY.
They stared at each other for a long moment.
“More drinks, bartender!” He thumped the bartop. “then warm up that
Karaoke machine!”

Tree: THAT WOULD BE FUN.
Subaru: *woozily* Tree-san, how do stars sparkle???
Tree: WHAT STARS?

In a field not far away, a number of large animals peacefully grazed by
the dying light of the last rays of sunset, while fireflies began their
graceful dance in the twilight and the frogs began their songs. A few of
the animals, motionless, began that strange standing sleep that large
animals tend to do. Suddenly a large- in fact rather bushy- shape reared up
next to one and pushed –
The cow tipped over.
Subaru: That was great!! You’re really good at sneaking up on them!!!
Tree: I’VE NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO DO THIS BEFORE, THIS IS FUN!
Subaru: Really?? *suddenly turns morose* Seishirou-san *sniff* used to do
this with me all the time. . .
Tree: *pauses* UMMMM. . .LOOK! THERE’S A WHOLE ROW OF THEM OVER THERE,
COME ON SUBARU-KUN, IT’S YOUR TURN!!!
Subaru: *suddenly brightens* Alright!!
****
Elsewhere:
Kamui: *sniffs* Where could Subaru be??? He’s been missing for days!
*breaks down sobbing*
Arashi: I’m sure Sumeragi-san will realize his place in the events of the
End of the World, and will return.
Kamui: if. . .if you say so, Kishuu-san. . .
****
Tree: WHOO! THAT WAS A GREAT ONE, YOU GOT ALL OF THEM!
Subaru: You’ve really never gotten to do this before?
Tree: NEVER. I DIDN’T REALLY USED TO GET AROUND THAT MUCH.
Subaru: *brightly* Well, there’s a lot of other /FUN/ stuff out there, so
don’t worry, I’ll take ya around town!!! We’lll do it all!!!
