The Great Outdoors
A: Okay, damn e-mail addy changes...Well, before I head out for the
weekend, I just wanna say happy holidays, and this is my Christmas
present to you all (and NO, I haven't forgotten about West
Settler...just a block -.-). It's quite short, and I'll have the
next part up...soon, once I'm motivated.
The title says it all...Oh gods, where did this come from...
Anywho, C&C's welcome (Like I know what that means...Just trying to
sound like a fic writer...-.-)
K: **hangs head in shame**
A: Geez, after reading Tsuriai pt. 6 it's amazing I can whip out
anything near funny.
K: **weeps through a tissue**
A: Awww..
Oh yeah, this takes place...**mumbles** somewhere in
America...because um, I'm not too aware of the camping facilities and
such in JAPAN. Seeing as how I DON'T LIVE THERE! >.< So, if words
like 'interstate' strike you as foreign, then that's why.

"Alright," Sorata began after making his rounds of passing
out envelopes to each of his fellow Dragons of Heaven. "Look inside!"
The consisting members reluctantly revealed the contents of
the not-so-intriguing enigmatic stationery, each glancing throughout
the letter thoroughly.
Almost in unison, everybody sighed, exlcuding Sorata, who
stared at them all, dumbfounded.
"What?" he asked, totally clueless.
Arashi sighed, holding the letter in her hand as she raised
her glance to Sorata. "Okay, we know you think we should just take a
vacation, Sorata, but--" the young lady exasperated as she took yet
another look towards her letter.
"Camping?"
Sorata shrugged, only smiling in pure delight. "Sure, why
not? We'll take a weekend getaway, just to escape from all the
stress that's been impounded on us!" Sorata took note to a very
depressed Sumeragi, who was slumped quietly in the back corner of the
room, trying to remain incognito to the somewhat happier surroundings.
Yuzuriha stood, smiling in agreement. "I think it's a great
idea, Sora-chan!"
Arashi, who now knew there was no way out of the situation,
sat back down into her chair, muttering under her breath.
* * *
"Uh, Sorata," Kamui called as he stared at the gigantic
vehicle before him.
The young monk happily walked to the younger boy's side,
placing an arm around him cheerily. "Yeah, Kamui?"
Kamui, who was still quite puzzled and amazed, raised his
index finger slowly to the mammoth van that the other Seals were
loading their things into. "How--where did you get that?"
"Oh, I just um, borrowed it--from a friend!" Sorata explained.
Kamui pointed out the well-to-do Yamaha Waverunner that was
quietly attatched to the back of the vehicle. "That too?"
"Yep!"
Kamui made an uneasy expression. "Who's driving?"
"Me!" Sorata replied, profoundly pointing to himself. Again,
uneasiness crossed Kamui's face as he spoke once more.
"Is it insured?"
Sorata gaped in disappointment, quite surprised that Kamui
had no faith in him. "Gee, Kamui! I'm not a total wreck!"
Kamui shrugged, trying to block the last statement from
Sorata out of his mind, noting the word 'wreck'. "Well, I'm just
saying, shouldn't we let Aoki-san or Karen-san drive?"
Sorata scoffed, removing his arm from the younger as he
sighed in disbelief. "Nah, it'll be alright, I can drive."
Kamui rolled his eyes as he went to help the others in
preparing for the trip. "Maybe we should call a priest first..."
* * *
"I want that damn thing back in one piece!" a voice shouted
angrily from a distance as Sorata carefully backed out of the
driveway. "You hear me, Sorata?! I'll kick your Kouyan ass!"
Sorata waved his arm as he peered out of the window to guide
himself. "Yeah, yeah Duo, back in one piece or you'll kick Kamui's
ass, I got it."
"Hey!" Kamui exclaimed angrily.
* * *
Arashi, who sat quietly in the passenger side next to Sorata
as the van hummed down the interstate, glanced at the spacious area
before her. Quite surprised at the amusement she was gathering from
a simple vehicle, she leant down into the floor to withdraw an object.
Rising, she toyed with it's features quietly as she
asked, "Sorata, what is this?"
The young man quickly caught a glimpse of the object that
Arashi was holding, and then shifting his view back to the
road. "Oh, that's cd's."
"Mind if I take a look?"
Sorata shrugged. "Yeah, sure, fine with me."
After about a minute of exploring, Arashi gathered a few of
the contents within, reading the labels to Sorata. "Madonna, Prince--
Marvin Gaye? Sorata, what is this? This is the kind of music people-
-" She almost completed her sentence, before staring blankly at a
grinning Sorata, who was more than willing to complete it for her.
"--Music people make love to? Perhaps that was what you were
wantin' to say?"
Arashi quietly closed the cd case, remaining silent
throughout half of the trip.
* * *
"Open the damn door," Kamui requested in a tolerating
whisper, running out of patience as he finally leaned over Yuzuriha
and Subaru, all three of whom were in the back, back seat.
Reaching with all of his might, he finally grabbed the handle
to the door and the mechanism swung open violently, a loud thud
ringing from outside due to impact.
Kamui took one glance to Sorata, who hadn't heard the noise,
since he was preoccupied. Aware of that, the violet eyed boy crawled
his way out of the van, falling to the wilderness outside with a
marvelous thud.
Standing slowly, Kamui dusted himself off weakly, wondering
what was so hard about opening a door.
Suddenly, a head only belonging to Yuzuriha peered out from
the door, smiling at Kamui. "You okay?"
'Oh sure, I'm just great,' Kamui's conscience said
sarchastically, but he only returned to sigh. "Yeah..."
* * *
"Okay, I brought two tents," Sorata explained, gesturing to
the various camping equipment before them all. "One for the girls
and one for the boys."
"Actually," Seiichirou began, raising his index finger. "I
brought my own tent along..."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Sorata sighed. "Well, who wants to
help me undock the Waverunner?"
Everybody remained silent. They knew offering to help was
like signing your own death certificate. Noticing the silence,
Sorata went on to a new form of persuasion.
"Whoever helps doesn't have to stay behind and work with the
tents."
All hands shot skyward.
* * *
"Left!" Kamui shouted, his sunglasses brightly reflecting his
beaming yellow Hawaiian tee as he stood at the top of the boat ramp,
waving his arms frantically as Sorata idiotically swerved downward to
the lake, other camp-goers watching in amusement. "Your other left,
stupid!"
"No, no, now go right...NO! BRAKES! BRAKES!"
My, the sweet sound of a van in a lake.
* * *
It took the help of Seiichirou, Kamui, a depressed Subaru
(which, in his state, doesn't compare to much), and a few other
random people who were kind enough, to help pull the van out of the
deep depths of the water before plummeting to a beautiful spot at the
bottom.
Kamui had to run up into the driver's side and drive the
vehicle the rest of the way up, while Sorata sat stupidly atop the
Waverunner, which was floating merrily about in the waves of the
beautiful water park.
Impressed greatly, Sorata applauded them all. Being the
drenched folks they were, looking slightly pissed, he figured he had
better play kiss-up in the worst way.
"I'm telling you," Seiichirou started, placing his hands on
his soaken sides angrily. "If Ohkawa-san hadn't written me to be so
friendly, I'd run out there and kick your butt right now."
Sorata was very thankful of the older man's greatfulness,
smiling appreciatively. "Aoki-san, one bad word in a year.../forgive
me/..."
And with that, the young monk fired the engines and shot off
like a bat out of hell.
* * *
Alas, the van was parked (safely), the tents had risen
(safely), and Sorata had returned--well, no, he hadn't, but the
others were gathered around the so-called accomadation known as a
picnic table, chatting casually.
"So, any ideas on what we're going to eat tonight?" Karen
asked, looking upward through the eminent trees above them all.
Arashi sighed, glancing beyond the others at the huge
stockpile of various chocolates, graham crackers, and
marshmallows. "Um, fish?"
Everybody facefaulted. "We eat fish almost everyday,"
Yuzuriha blurted unhappily. "Can't we eat hot dogs or something?"
"If you can find some," Arashi sighed, worn out to the
fullest as she gestured to the group of foods, sending the younger
girl on a scavenger hunt.
Eventually, the sounds of an engine waving across the
barracks could be heard, increasing in volume as Sorata drove his way
to the grounds closest to the campsite, which, if you were /at/ the
campsite, was completely visible, being only about fifty yards away.
The young man whistled happily as he strung the mechanism up
to the miniature dock that was located conveniently nearby. He was
completely soaked, his hair a complete mess.
"Uh, perhaps you should have worn the wet-suit?" Arashi said
as she fiddled with the sultry surfaces of Sorata's Hawaiian tee.
Of course, receiving such "attention" from Miss was rare, so
Sorata merely shrugged, smiling gallantly as Arashi zoned out, not
quite aware of what she was doing.
Finally, the young woman snapped to, removing her hand
violently, only receiving a frown of disappointment from the lovesick
Sorata.
Arashi slowly regained focus as she returned to the picnic
table with the others. "We were all wondering about what we should
eat tonight, maybe you have a suggestion?" she asked as the other
Seals tried with desperate subtlety to hault her inquisition.
"Ooh," Sorata cooed as he considered the
possibilites. "How 'bout fish?!"
More irritated moans could be heard.
Sorata, who was now aware of the denial to /that/ option,
quickly gave up, heading to another subject. "Hey, I've got it!"
"Hmm?"
Sorata gestured to the van naively, his face lit with
happiness. "I brought a guitar, we can sing Koombaya!"
Again, more irritated moans.
----------------------
A: Yes, and I'll get the next part of WS out soon.. **the
dreaded block -.-** Unlike a few of my other 'abandoned' works
**dodges flying Nerf balls**, I plan to finish that one.
K: Ouy vei.
A: I also hope the next part of /this/ will be a bit more
interesting -.-
