Happiness part 2
By Ginga
"Okaa-san? What's wrong?"
The woman's concentration was broken. She turned her had and looked at her
daughter. "Kuto-chan, do you wan to visit your Grandmother for your birthday?"
The girl's face brightened "Yes, Okaa-san!! That would be great! I haven't seen
Obaa-san for..."
"Over two years." Said her mother.
"Right! Do you think she would be proud of my magic skills? I hope she thinks
it'll be alright!"
"I bet she'll accept your skills, as long as you study! Which is what you
should be doing right now. Right?"
"Yes, Okaa-san..."
"Dinner will be ready soon. I'll call you when it's ready." The mother smiled
as her daughter ran into the shrine. Sakura petals fell across her face.
"Subaru-san, I miss you so much. I hope I'm doing everything all right. And I
hope you're happy, wherever you may be." The woman lifted her hand against the
sakura tree and rubbed it soothingly. She then got up and walked toward the
shrine, but after she left a young man looked at her from behind the tree as
she entered the shrine. Then he himself disappeared.

Yuzuriha was happy once again. She had someone who cared about her, she was
doing well in school, and all the Dragons of Heaven were al1 right. Even Kamui,
who had been in the hospital earlier that month, was feeling better and
enjoying his life, as he should. The inugami master walked cheerfully through
the beautiful gardens that were located around Clamp Gakuen. She stopped and
picked up a small flower that had fallen and had been trampled by passing
students. She studied the orange and black colors that decorated each petal.
She then when to a neighboring fountain, ran her fingers in the cool pool of
water, and drizzled the water on the flower.
"There, that'll keep you alive a little bit longer." She said as she caressed
the petals with her thumb.
Yuzu then picked up her bag that she put on the ground and walked to the
Imonoyama Mansion.
"Hey everyone, I'm home!!" Yuzuriha yelled as she entered the house. She
quickly took off her shoes and put on her slippers. She then ran around the
place seeing if someone was home. After a few minutes, she gave up on looking.
"Nobody's home, how can that be... wait a minute! I forgot one room!" Yuzuriha
jumped up and walked toward the upstairs guestroom that was right by the other
Dragons rooms. She first knocked on the door, "Hello! Is anyone there?"
After a couple min. of waiting, she lifted her hand to knock again, but was
interrupted by the door opening. Then a tired-looking, young man's head poked
out of the doorway.
"Ahh!! Subaru-san, I'm sorry! I didn't know you were resting. I'll come back
later..."
Subaru shook his head, "No, it's alright. You can come in if you want to. I had
to wake up soon anyway." It was a lie, but it wouldn't harm him or her, so it
was all right.
Yuzuriha gave him a mistrusting eye, then softened. A bright smile appeared on
her face as she started to rummage though her bag. She then pulled out a small
flower, and handed it to Subaru. "Here. I found it in a park after school. I
know it's not your favorite flower, but I thought you may like it."
Subaru held the tiny stem and slowly twirled it between his fingers. He studied
the design the colors made on each petal and smelled it's sweet sent. He smiled
slightly, and said, "Thank you."
Yuzuriha smiled and put her bag down on the floor. She then walked toward
Subaru and laid her hand on his cheek. She gently brushed her fingers along his
cheekbone and sighed. "You should get back to bed. I can see that you're tired.
And I won't take 'no' or 'I'm not tired' for an answer!" She said as she pulled
on his arm, dragging him toward the bed. "I'll check on you later." Yuzuriha
said as she pushed him on the mattress. She smiled and giggled as she saw the
shock on Subaru's face. She then helped him into bed and tucked him in. "Sweet
dreams, Subaru-san." Yuzu whispered before she kissed him on the head and left
the room.

"Kuto-san! Hurry up or we'll be late!"
"Kaa-san, I'm tired."
"But if we don't hurry, we'll be late for our train ride to Obaa-san's place.
Now put you jacket and shoes on, I'll meet you at the door." The young woman
turned around, but quickly stopped and said, "And don't forget to say goodbye
to Obaa-chan!"
There was a muffled reply as the woman listened for an answer. She smiled and
turned to an open book she had in front of her. It was her diary she had since
she was fourteen years old. This dairy was the one that held all of her
emotions throughout the hardest time in her life. She quickly opened to a page
and pulled out a flattened, dried-out flower. Even when it was dead it was
beautiful. "Just like Subaru-san..." whispered the lady, as she quickly put the
flower back, and packed the book in her suitcase.
The train ride was very hectic for the young woman and her daughter. After they
had got off the train, the woman called a cab. Simultaneously, she was holding
her sleeping daughter.
As they arrived at the child's Obaa-san's home, the mother suddenly started to
cry. The cab driver asked her if she was all right, after she nodded they
arrived at the Sumeragi mansion. The driver took out the woman's stuff and
helped her carry it to the front door. She paid him a generous amount and he
left.
The mother knocked on the door and a young woman in a plain white kimono soon
answered it. "Can I help you miss?"
"Um, yes. I'm here to see Sumeragi Obaa-sama, please."
The lady at the door looked at the small, sleeping child and whispered,
"Kami-sama, I'll see to it you see her right away. Here, let me take your
bags." Then they started to walk down a long hallway.
"Thank you, you're very kind." The young mother smiled.
The lady blushed slightly and said, "I have to help the new head of our clan in
anyway possible. Sumeragi-sama is behind this door; someone will come out and
let you go in when she is ready. Meanwhile, I'll put these bags away in your
regular room."
"Thank you very much!"
The young mother sat down and put her child in her lap. She started to hum a
soft lullaby tune she had heard her child sing to herself. It was cute and
simple. She had also heard the song children's anime. She had confirmed in her
mind that she like the tune.
Suddenly the door to Sumeragi-sama's room opened. Another kimono-donned
attendant told her that it was all right to talk to the woman that waited
indoors. The woman stood up and walked into the candlelit room.
"Obaa-sama!" The woman exclaimed as she ran to the twelfth Sumeragi head, who
was in a wheelchair. "Gomen nasai! I know I haven’t been able to visit for a
long time, but…"
The Older woman put a finger to the younger woman’s lips. "Hush dear, it’s all
right. How have you and the child been?"
"Hokuto-chan has been doing great. She’s very energetic and has been studying
for about 3-5 hours a day. It’ll be time for her soon to get her inugami. The
special one that was born just for her." The woman looked down at the child in
her arms and offered her to Lady Sumeragi. The woman graciously accepted her
and cradled the child in her arms. "As for me, my health’s been holding up just
perfectly, it’s just the I’ve had waves of depression now and then. I’ve also
had many flashbacks of Subaru-san and myself. It gets me really depressed."
"Child, don’t be sad. You know Subaru-san wouldn’t want that. As long as you’re
here I want you to be happy. I also want your daughter to be just as happy. Now
why don’t you get settled in your rooms." Lady Sumeragi called out a servant’s
name and the man answered to her. "Will you please show Miss Nekoi to her and
her daughter’s room. Yuzuriha-san, your baggage should be there."
"Good night Obaa-san, arigato gozaimasu."
"Good night child. I’ll see you two in the morning."
And with that Yuzuriha and her daughter left the room.
