Okay, well, yeah, I had suppport and back-up for the psychotic
version, so here it is. ^.^ Not that I think it's as psychotic as I
once figured.
I'm going to give you two quotes as to explain the second part of
this fic.
"Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with
whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart."
-Marcus Aurelius
And, perhaps the more important of the two for this fic...
"Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind
blows out the candle and blows up the bonfire."
-Francois de La Rouchefoucauld
I hope you know what's gonna happen ^.^ Though, the title may lose
it's meaning. =T
Usual disclaimers go here.
The Hierophant
Part 2
"I can no longer help anyone, Subaru-kun..."
Subaru froze in horror. Seiichirou had heard his thoughts,
but...
'Subaru-kun...'
The words breezed through Subaru's mind a thousand times
over. His spine had chilled, and the hairs on his neck stood to no
end in shock. He suddenly slipped into a wave of rememberance.
Subaru could hardly recall when those words were said, with such
softness, and not with cruel intending huskiness.
Subaru stood, almost involuntarily. His eyes still wide in
shock, confusion, and now, causing an even bigger mix of emotions to
turn Subaru's stomach upside down...
Love. Those days, when Subaru never knew what hid behind
Seishirou's mask of fooling fate. When he was happy.
And now, he was being directly reminded. It pained him, to
have to feel such emotion, as he had forgotten how to feel it, or use
it.
Subaru looked at Seiichirou, confused, yet convinced.
Excited, but depressed. Puzzled, yet he found an answer.
"Seishirou-san?" Subaru asked, tilting his head to one side.
Subaru closed his eyes and shook his head, more tears fell
from his eyes. No, there was no way Seishirou could be Seiichirou.
But, Seiichirou was everything Subaru had wished Seishirou
was. Kind, caring, gentle. His eyes hid no darkness, but welcomed
happiness and love. Subaru wanted Seishirou to be all of those
things.
But never did he recieve them.
No, Seishirou would always be the assassin, the killer, the
man in black beyond the shadows. The one waiting for sweet Subaru-
kun to arrive, so he could play with his prey, just like a toy.
That's all Subaru ever was to Seishirou, a mere toy.
But to Seiichirou, Subaru was something more, at least
considered of some importance. He was respected by Seiichirou.
And he still is.
Subaru again looked down at Seiichirou. The man's face still
red, but not scarred like portions of his back. He was lucky to only
have that, just a few scars on his back, everything else was tinted
red from heat.
Seiichirou returned his hazy gaze back up to Subaru, his eyes
perhaps turning grey, maybe he just wanted to sleep.
That's where he was headed, sleep. Sleep heals most pain,
and his eyes would blink, each time, his eyelids enclosed his vision
more and more.
Until they were closed completely. Subaru breathed in
staggeringly, making sure not to wake him, he was surely overwhelmed
by what he had just looked into.
Subaru carefully extended his arm to Seiichirou's sleeping
face, brushing his the side of his brunette hair ever so softly.
Trickling his fingers about his hair, Subaru moved his hand
towards Seiichirou's face, tracing his jawline with one finger, with
sheer softness, only because he wanted to admire Seiichirou.
Subaru glanced over to the nightstand next to the bed,
noticing Seiichirou's glasses. Shifting away from him, Subaru picked
the glasses up and observed them, only causing more tears to form in
his eyes.
He looked around, a new thought in his mind.
"Surely he has some," Subaru whispered to himself as he
opened the nightstand drawer quietly.
Subaru smiled weakly as he brought to him, a pair of deep
black sunglasses.
He was too tempted, he had to see. Quietly as before, and
just as careful, Subaru placed the glasses upon Seiichirou's face.
Subaru actually chuckled, quite amused by the resemblance.
"If only he had his hairstyle..." Subaru sighed. "He would
look just like him, well, excluding the eye, I suppose..."
Subaru removed the sunglasses from Seiichirou's face and
placed them back in the nightstand drawer, directly before he heard a
knock at the door.
He gave one long glance at Seiichirou, before walking to the
door.
Not actually surprised as he opened it, Karen stood in the
doorway.
"Hi, Subaru-san..." she greeted softly. "Is he okay?"
Subaru nodded. "Yes, he's resting."
Karen smiled and touched the side of Subaru's face. "You've
been crying?"
Subaru shook his head as Karen removed her hand. "No,"
Karen didn't believe him though, and Subaru knew it. So
instead, he gestured inside. "Would you like to come in?"
Karen chuckled and stepped inside, glancing about the
house. "Wow, I've never actually been to his house before, it's
nice."
Subaru directed Karen to Seiichirou's bedroom, where he lay
resting serenely.
She wanted to start crying right over his body, but she knew
better than to do so. She knew he needed to rest. She took a few
steps toward him cautiously.
She, like Subaru, ran her fingers softly about his hair as
she spoke to Subaru. "He doesn't need medical attention, does he?"
Subaru shook his head. "No, just a few burns on the back,
everything else will be fine."
Karen nodded. "Are you staying with him for the night?"
Subaru looked dumbfounded, he wasn't quite sure. "I...don't
know, I hadn't questioned it yet. were you thinking of it?"
"Well," Karen began. "That's why I asked, I was hoping
someone could stay with him, I have to work tonite."
"All night?" Subaru asked, surprised.
Karen sighed and nodded.
Subaru looked down at the floor. "Well, I suppose I could,
it wouldn't hurt."
Karen looked at Subaru and smiled. "Thanks,"
Subaru nodded. "Sure...when do you have to go?"
Karen checked the clock on the wall. "Right now, actually,
you take care of him, okay?"
Subaru nodded. "Okay, I will, don't worry."
The Next Day...
Subaru hadn't expected to sleep so late. He had checked the
clock, it was two in the afternoon, and Aoki was sitting up, reading
a book.
That rest must have done him some kind of good, as he smiled
brightly and greeted Subaru to the day.
"Hello, sleepy head!" he said, smiling brightly.
Subaru stretched and looked at Seiichirou. "You feeling
better?"
"Absolutely," he replied, almost glowing. "Thank you for
staying with me."
Subaru nodded again, and sat back in his chair.
'There he is,' Subaru thought. 'Everything I ever wanted in
Seishirou...'
"I suppose I'm the one who should ask who's feeling any
better," Seiichirou said, worried in Subaru's expression. "Are you
okay, Subaru-san?"
'Subaru-san'
'Subaru-san'
'No more Subaru-kun...'
Seiichirou tilted his head to one side. "Subaru-kun?"
Subaru passed out.
"Subaru? Can you hear me, Subaru?"
Subaru opened his eyes slowly, almost drunkenly.
"Subaru!"
Subaru jolted his eyes open in a flash, everything appeared
fuzzily at first, but Subaru focused his gaze.
Kamui stood over him. "Seiichirou-san said you passed out,
he figured you needed more rest."
"Is he--"
"He's sleeping, Subaru-san, don't worry, now, try to get
awake, I'll go fix up something to eat the best I can..."
Kamui exited the room, leaving Subaru in a sea of silence.
He glanced around, to the window expecially, noticing it was dark
once again. And back to Seiichirou, who was sleeping peacefully.
Subaru stood and walked towards the man.
"Was I dreaming?" Subaru asked to himself, confused by the
latest events, whether each was a dream or an actuality.
Subaru looked down on Seiichirou once again, his feeling from
the previous night drowning back into him. He placed his hand upon
Seiichirou's chin, tilting the older man's head up a small bit.
Subaru had an urge.
He was becoming tempted to do something he knew could result
in no good way. But he wanted to.
Just to see if it felt the same...
Subaru glanced at the doorway, to make sure Kamui wasn't
coming back, and he nervously looked back down to the sleeping
Seiichirou.
He sighed once more, trying fight his temptation, but it was
far too powerful. He leaned in close to Seiichirou, until he was
breathing softly over him, and he could feel Seiichirou's breath
flowing gently upon his face.
Subaru placed his lips on Seiichirou's, if only for a brief
second. He quickly removed his lips, touching them, confused by the
shock he recieved when he had done so.
Subaru turned around to see Kamui standing in the doorway.
God, I can't believe I just did that. >.< Wait, yes I can ^.^ Talk
