Well, this is the last installment for the "Angel" vignettes I'm doing.
Warning: It might be a bit of a letdown after Deadly Sins.
Here goes. Standard disclaimers apply.
His Heaven
by Shinri Ayase
The world is very mysterious. Very mysterious indeed.
Past goes before present as present precedes past.
Very linear. Quite fixed.
Still, it is chaotic, for while past foreshadows the present and future,
does the thought of the future not influence the past?
Humans educate themsleves so they may have a better life in the future.
If they find the future meaningless, they make their present without use,
and therefore, their past is without meaning.
All creatures were given the gift of foresight. How foresight is used
is merely up to them.
How everything is done is of that creature's freedom of choice.
Lucifer moved closer to his lover, relishing the feel of strong arms
holding his body in a warm, Loving embrace. He remembered the choice he
made long ago, and found he did not regret it after all.
For the longest time, he had done so. He did not regret Loving, rather,
he regretted having to leave his beloved Telizure, cold and alone as he had
been when he was named the Angel of Death.
The Naming was the beginning of it all. Lucifer watched the taller
angel step forward as his name was called. His green eyes examined him from
head to foot, from the velvetine darkness of his hair to the frozen amber of
his eyes to the power and grace of his movements. All knew him as second in
command to Michael, all knew his name. But very few knew his face.
He could vaguely remember thinking that the warrior angel was beautiful.
And so he felt overwhelming compassion for him. The Almighty told him what
Death was to be, and knew the curse.
This beautiful angel will find himself wandering the mortal world, alone
and unseen. He would no longer be the warrior he strived to become, but a
phantom of a killer. It would be like an honorable warrior forced to take
the life of a defenseless creature.
Death will be feared, revered. In between these two, there is confusion
and isolation. He is mercy to others, threat to the rest. He will not know
what to believe.
All he was told was that he shall be sending the immortal souls to
Heaven, the Crystal Universe, or to Hell, the Void. He was not told he
would be too powerful, that he will no longer be an individual, but an idea
that will drive humanity into the arms of the Almighty.
When he realizes this, he would be shattered, he would no longer know
who he truly is. What part of himself would he hold onto then? He would
lose faith in his person.
Lucifer wanted to give Death his Heaven. It was painful to think that a
comrade of his will spend the rest of eternity alone and cold.
He felt Telizure tighten his hold on him. Lucifer held on, his green
eyes softening with the feel.
The first time he was held in a fashion similar to this this was during
a stolen moment. He remembered approaching the tall angel and asking him to
participate in an experiment. The Morning Star asked him to hold still and
closed his eyes.
He almost giggled at the memory of Telizure's expression as he was given
the very first Kiss. His eyes were wide - and to think that nothing had
ever fazed him before - and his fingers touched his lips. Lucifer named
that expression astonishment.
Telizure kissed him after that, and countless times after. But the
smaller angel cherished the first one, for that was when Telizure held him
close after the second kiss and whispered, "I think I'll call this embrace,
ne?"
Heaven - it was all that he asked for. He wanted Heaven for Death. And
yet he felt that his beloved won't ever get it. And he also noticed how the
Almighty would keep speaking of the Greatest Love as some sort of offering
to Him. It confused him so - he had created the concept of Love, knowing
that it was to be shared among all and yet the Almighty acted as if He
should monopolize it.
But Lucifer invented the concept of Love among mankind so that there
would be peace. And, he knew, deep within his heart, that Love was made for
Telizure. The Almighty allowed Love to exist among mankind, but a large
part of it was required for Him to not totally destroy His Creation.
Lucifer referred to this attitude as selfishness. And so he rebelled.
He unconsciously stroked his beloved's long-unused wings. He winced as
he felt the scar of one particular blow.
It was during the Fall, as an angel was to cut off his pure-white wings.
Telizure was there, blocking the blow. Part of his right wing was severely
damaged, and there was red liquid everywhere. They managed to escape for a
while.
He healed his beloved's wing as best he could, and they held each other.
And then a kiss, a touch, a moment of ecstasy. They made love for the
first time. The created an unnamed ritual of Love.
But they had no time to hold each other after, for they were taken away
from each other.
Lucifer shut his eyes, they stung with the painful memory. But as he
opened them, he saw a pair of matching sunshine greeting him.
"Subaru-kun," Telizure murmured the nickname he had given his lover.
"Are you hurt?" Lucifer merely shooke his head and stayed near the warmth.
He could feel the other angel smile and relax, and found himself smiling.
He found Heaven For both of them.
"Aishiteru, Seishirou-san."
And the sun travelled across the Void of Inferno. It was the first time
the sunrise graced this land.
